My baby dog (10 year old rottie/beagle mix) was comfortable with her through his dreaded bath time. That says alot! Plus Gen gave me excellent tips on keeping his beagle-style ears clean.

Vickie is the best groomer I have ever brought my kitties too! She is always accommodating and makes sure that my cats feel safe, which is very important to me. I was worried about bringing my cats to a dog groomer because dogs like to bark a lot. :) Vickie schedules my cats around quieter times and has a room set up especially for them. I always get compliments on their haircuts. You can't beat the price for the great service she provides! Enjoy the pictures!

About

Regular grooming is essential to the maintenance of your pet's health. A well-groomed pet is more likely to be hugged, and pets live healthier lives when they are touched frequently and have a healthy coat and skin. Aside from keeping your pet smelling and looking attractive, grooming will help to prevent or impede such conditions as parasites and skin irritations. While grooming should be done on a consistent basis, the frequency to which your pet needs to be groomed will depend somewhat on daily routines, coat type, age and general health. It is recommended that long haired dogs be groomed every 6-8 weeks to avoid matting. In addition, your pet will benefit from regular brushing to remove any loose hairs and dead skin cells, to rid the coat of debris and external parasites, and to disseminate skin oils that form along the hair shafts. We can assist in recommending the proper tools to use for your pet's coat type. If your pet suffers from allergies, our veterinarian may prescribe regular bathing as part of the treatment routine. Be sure to notify us of any special needs your pet may require such as specific shampoos or eye care and bring any of these products with you to your appointment. Please schedule your pet's appointment in advance, especially during the warmer summer months and near the holiday seasons. We are happy to offer the following services to assist in the health and maintenance of your pet: - Grooming Services - Ear Cleaning - Wing and Nail Trims - Anal Gland Expressing - Cat Shave Down (Under Sedation) - Bathing - Coat Brushing - Soft Paws Application

About

I have been working with animals since I was 18 years old. I have been grooming the last 3 years as a full-time groomer. I believe that dogs should be handled with love and care and also cats should be able to get groomed also. If you would like dog walking, I'd be glad to do that. I actually love walking, playing and talking to them and making sure that they're happy fur babies.

About

The main philosophy at GroomZ is to provide the best possible grooming service at your location. Your dog will not be mixed with other animals. It will never be put in a crate. Our state of the art mobile grooming salon is completely self contained and provides a comforting environment for your dog.

About

We welcome all breeds, shapes, and sizes of dog and cat! We are not "breed-ist" and judge each animal as an individual. We look forward to meeting you and your pet! We offer full-service dog and cat grooming, including everything from a basic bath to de-shedding, tooth brushing, nail filing, and gland expression, in addition to the bath or haircut. All of our bath and haircut packages include two shampoos, conditioner, nails trimmed, and ears cleaned or plucked. All of our shampoos and conditioners are all natural; we carry Tropiclean, Davis, Kelco, and Kim Laube products. All of our groomers are well-versed in breed specific haircuts and pet grooms as well. We are here to give your dog or cat the haircut and grooming that you want! We've done everything from the AKC standards to mohawks and bell-bottoms! When you drop your pet off for the first time, we will sit and talk with you about what you want, to make sure we get it just right. For returning clients, we keep records of all the past groomings; we are happy to discuss changes, or you can just hand us your pet and ask for the usual! We are a little different than some other salons in that our facility is run like a doggy daycare (We offer daycare too!), and the dogs are free to roam the shop and play when they are not being bathed or groomed. We do provide a separate area or crates, as necessary, for our less social furry friends, or for those clients who are uncomfortable leaving their cherished friend in doggy daycare. We offer a very personal and friendly level of service combined with the fun of social time for your dog (Sorry cats, no doggy day care for you!) that we think will have you coming back again and again! "No crates, less stress, more fun!"

About

21 years experience. Because I care about your pets and I treat them well. If a pet bites me I never go to hit the pet. The pet is trying to tell me that he or she doesn't like something that I am doing to him.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do cats have to get groomed?

It’s not crazy to have your cat groomed. Grooming will keep your cat’s fur soft and silky as well as give you early warning about any health concerns. Regular grooming can also help reduce the volume of hair your cat may be shedding and keep your longhair kitty cool if you live in a warm climate. Professionals competently groom your cat and are trained to manage them if they resist being groomed, while you may get scratched doing the same task. The national average price for cat grooming is $50-$70. Pet grooming prices may vary based on the task. For example, a bath and brush for shorthair cats may be $15, $20 for medium-hair cats, and $25 for a longhair. Cat groomers can also keep your cat’s ears cleaned, trim their nails, and provide haircuts if needed. Average prices for haircuts can vary from $30 to $95 or more, depending on whether the cat is shy or aggressive and whether their coat is in good condition, matted, or otherwise difficult to groom.

How much should cat grooming cost?

Keeping your cat groomed is an important part of maintaining their good health. The national average cost for cat grooming ranges between $50 and $70, with prices varying based on where you live and the services you request. Your cat’s temperament can also affect grooming prices. Scratching and hissing during a groomer visit can raise rates an average of $5-$10, or more, as hazard pay. Larger cats and long-haired cats that take longer to groom will also usually cost more. Here are some examples of cat grooming average costs:

  • Shave down or lion cut: $35-$60. These cuts preserve the hair around the face and tip of the tail but shave down the entire body. The lion cut is often recommended for extremely matted hair is exceedingly matted, for extreme heat, or for cats who are suffering from hairballs.
  • Ear cleaning and nail trim: $30.
  • Nail trim: $10-$15.
  • Bath and nail trim: $45.
  • Bath and sanitary trim: $55. A sanitary trim clips the hair on a cat’s behind to prevent fecal matting in longhair cats or cats that have mobility issues.
  • Bath, blow-dry, brush out, nail trim and ear cleaning: $40.
  • Full haircut, bath, and nail trim: $45-$95, depending on matting.

Where can you get your cat groomed?

Cat grooming keeps your cat’s fur tangle-free and clean. Most businesses that offer dog grooming or general pet grooming also offer cat grooming; some businesses even specialize solely in cat grooming. Look for a professional who has training grooming cats or belongs to a professional association such as the National Cat Groomers Institute, because cat grooming techniques can be different than for dogs. Cat grooming can encompass a wide range of services. In addition to haircutting, hair detangling and hairstyling, cat groomers can trim cat nails, clean out your cat’s ears, give flea baths, demat, trim facial fur, bathe and even blow-dry your cat. Health safety and etiquette requires your cat to be in good health and have all their vaccinations before using grooming services.
