Julie was very professional from planning to execution. Great communication before the event. This was a present to my husband for Christmas. A private cooking class for 2 in our home. Julie taught and served a fabulous flavorful 5 course Indian meal. We will definitely do this again! She brought all ingredients. She used our cookware and gadgets so we could reproduce the meal without feeling we had to buy any new kitchenware. So happy!

Michael was wonderful to work with and I would use him again. He did our Thanksgiving meal and it was excellent. One of the group had an allergy and he cooked with ingredients that she could eat.

I was at an event that was catered by the good life kitchen the food was excellent, very fresh, colorful So pretty to look at and the taste was out of this world. I have also picked up food from there to go and have eaten there many times. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable when it ces to special needs and diets like gluten free, I have had the gluten free lentil kale and sweet potato stew and even though I am not a big fan of lentils this stew is do sweet and tasty I must recommend it. The best sandwich is the turkey melt with a delissious secret sauce you just absolutely have to try. They also have the freshest salads in town made right in front of you not to forget the fresh made salad dressings. They also serve egg and tuna salad freshly made and you just can not get that everywhere. A great selection of healthy and unusual drinks are offered . You can dine in or have a party in a clean and bright dining room. The kitchen bares no secrets it is for all to see all in all a wonderful place where everyone is treated like family come and check it out.

"We recently had a girls 34-year high school reunion in Rhinebeck NY. We had 12 girls stay at a wonderful private home and we reached out to the Culinary Institute to find a chef to prepare a dinner for us one evening. I Hired Lily for this private dinner and she went way beyond our expectations. I explained we wanted to pay attention to a few people that had dietary needs such as gluten free, dairy free, and vegetarian. Lily created a spectacular menu that fulfilled all of our desires. The presentation was beautiful, the food was light, seasoned to perfection, and incredibly outstanding."

Ann helped us with a small reception dinner after our wedding ceremony. Someone less reputable left us in the lurch - thank goodness we found such a great cook that little would phase! She worked with us on our menu, made some great suggestions, did all the shopping and prepared a wonderful meal. One of our guests has an allergy to gluten and another is a vegan and Ann accommodated them both without batting an eye. She was professional, friendly, reasonably priced and non-intrusive. We look forward to using her expertise the next time!

Two wonderful experience's! Catered wedding of 130 guests and sweet 16th birthday party for 50. Both experiences were fantastic! Prompt service and showed up on time for both events. They prepared fresh, beautifully presented food in our kitchen and even though they were in our house, they were completely independent and did everything themselves. When the food was out, everyone kept raving about how GREAT it was. Our guests continued to rave about the food weeks after the party! Not only was the food delicious and exactly what we wanted, they were extremely professional and courteous to our guests. They smiled and went the extra mile, which made our guests feel even better about the time they were having at our parties. Their clean-up was perfection and they did not leave a trace behind. Both experiences exceeded our expectations and we will definitely use them again in the future! Price point was on target and we definitely got everything we paid for and they are my go to for any future events.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
