FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, in Virginia, Private Investigators must meet In-Service training requirements in order to renew their licenses. Networking with other Investigators I have learned quite a bit. PIAVA (Private Investigators Association of Virginia) usually offers lectures and seminars at its monthly meetings, and there is usually an annual training event sponsored by PIAVA in order to help meet state requirements.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been doing this type of work in one form or another for the past 20+ years. After I retired from the US Army, I wanted to continue in a similar field. I have been lucky in that I have enjoyed this work and have the opportunity to continue in this field.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Domestic cases seem to be the most prevalent for Private Investigators starting out. Background checks for hiring and relationships is becoming more popular as it is easy mislead prospective employers or love interests. I also work with people who want to learn to effectively and responsibly handle handguns.
