FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Ever since I was a young child I enjoyed drawing, color, planning and organization which were the elementary pillars of design. As I grew older, I realized those same passions were still there so I pursued a Bachelor's of Science in Interior Design and have never looked back. I feel fortunate that I have great foundations in both the residential and commercial worlds prior to starting my own business in 2005.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I am most proud of the Wounded Warrior charity house I completed in the Fall of 2013. It was such an honor to work with a local builder and the Wounded Warrior foundation and give a house mortgage free to a young man who is a double amputee from the Iraqi war. Just getting to know the couple, hearing his story and seeing the look on his face when he was given the house is a project that is beyond words and something I will never forget. Special accommodations were made for him within the house and decorated with special touches from his farm, family photos, and military regalia. Seeing him with tears in his eyes, a lump in his throat and a smile on his face confirmed beyond words that I gave him the best gift I could give him, a home full of love.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If you are looking for an interior designer it is so important to meet with them prior to signing any contracts to make sure the designer and client personalities mesh. A designer works closely in all aspects of a client's life during a design project. It is important to pick someone who has the same vision, style and taste as you and can also work within your budget.
