I could not be more pleased with Candy's care of my dogs. She was available at the last minute. Came right over to meet everyone and I could tell right away she felt comfortable with my crew of 4. She kept me posted on how they were doing while I was away. I now have someone to call whenever I need a dog sitter.

I had never used a pet sitter before and was desperate to find someone to watch my 3 dogs on the 4th of July so we could attend our nephews wedding in Pa. (who knew how difficult that would be!) Ali watched my 14 year old blind/deaf dog and my 8 month old and 8 week old puppy. She was so attentive and even sent me pictures while we were gone! 2 weeks later we had her come back for training of the babies and they went crazy when they saw her... it was like she was a member of the family. I have done a lot of internet searching for dog training and am amazed at what Ali was able to accomplish in just one hour. I cannot recommend her enough, she is wonderful!!!

I always have anxiety about leaving my kitties when I go on vacation and this year we found out one of our cats George was diabetic and this added more stress. Laura and Elise came over for a long home visit and took a ton of notes and seemed genuinely concerned about making myself and my cats their priority and this made me feel so much better. When I was on vacation I looked forward to my reports which included individual pictures of my cats and I could see that they were happy and comfortable. They are definitely going to be my pet sitters for all future vacations. Also wanted to add that they did all the extra things like scooping out litter boxes, sweeping up litter and mail, etc. I was happy to come home and everything was in perfect order❤️😸😸

We love this service. This company is amazing with our furbaby. I knew this company was amazing based on the procedures just to get established as client - my baby was with the sitter and I was sitting on a plane at the Newport News airport - they treated him just like part of their family through the whole ordeal. If I cannot be with him - I am glad to know he is in a good home while I am away. She sends pictures and videos throughout his stay - because she knows how much he means to me. I highly recommend.

Hannah frequently watches my two year old cat, Mellie, and she has always been my number one choice for a pet sitter. She has excellent rates, is extremely friendly, and goes above and beyond to care for my cat. I trust her completely, as she has access to my home to pet sit while I am away for multiple day excursions. I would choose Hannah over a boarding place any day, as having Hannah come to my house and spend time with my cat relieves any worry I have when I go on vacation. She is also extremely professional, punctual, and responds quickly. If you'e looking for a pet sitter, pick Hannah!

My almost 5 year old son loves taking lessons with Sarah. He can be quite the handful sometimes and she really knows how to deal with him when he doesn’t want to listen. He is learning so much from her not only about riding but also about brushing and cleaning the hooves etc. Sarah has all of these little exercises and tricks to get him comfortable on the saddle when the horse is not only walking but also trotting. He’s come really far in a short amount of time because of it. All of the horses are so sweet and my son can just run up to them and hug them and they never object. Definitely would recommend Sarah for lessons for anyone and especially for young beginner children!

    About

I enjoy staying busy and animals so I figured why not combine the two. I have house-sit/pet sit on several occasions before for a variety of animals. I have no problem with the species of animal nor the size. I also have housecleaning experience, landscaping experience and nursing experience as well. Let me help you with any chore, and I can guarantee you will contact me for more services. Just a quick note I bring my own chemicals and mop however if you want eco friendly chemicals then they need to be provided. I also need the home to have electricity and running water to get it clean to the best of my ability.

    About

My name is Simirjeet, but I go by Simrin. I am a diligent student who is attending Old Dominion University, seeking for any part-time, one-time or occasional pet sitting jobs. I do own a vehicle, and I do not have early morning or evening classes, so I am able to watch pets catered around those times and any time on the weekends. In addition, I am very flexible with additional requests, such as checking mail or putting the garbage out for the next morning. I am an absolute animal lover as I have grown up around multiple dogs in my household, and I have watched pets of family and friends in the past. I am very reliable, responsible, lenient on prices per night and very much looking forward to being able to care for your furry friends!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

    • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
    • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
      • 45-minute visit: $28.
      • 60-minute visit: $32.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
      • 12 hours: $100.
      • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32.
