FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My services start at $15 an hour. I tutor at Perry Library in Norfolk but I can also travel for an additional travel fee ($0.05 per mile driven total).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once a student has expressed his/her interest in my services, I schedule a free session with the student as an introduction. In this first session, the student and I will review a tutor-student agreement form, discuss short/long-term goals, availability, payment, etc. Once the student and I have agreed to continue with tutoring, the following sessions will consist of lessons customized to the student's needs as discussed in the first session.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently a student employee at Old Dominion University's Office of Intercultural Relations where I meet and engage with both domestic and international students. I am also a foreign language tutor for Old Dominion University's Student Support Center. In the last two years, I have tutored Beginning Spanish and Japanese. In middle school I ranked as one of the highest English scores, which then I was placed in a class where I learned Latin, French and Spanish in that same year. From then until high school, I spent another three years in Spanish. In college, I took two college level Spanish courses at the Beginner level, as well as Beginning Japanese and Intermediate Japanese. I volunteer as a conversation partner at Old Dominion University's English Language Center for Japanese exchange students.
