Actual movers were great! They arrived and got right to work. The only downfall was when everything was complete and I had to deal with the admin people in the office. I found her to be rude to the actual movers that were at my home doing the labor. She was questioning everything the lead mover was telling her. Then when I wanted to pay a portion of the bill with a credit card she asked me to text her my email, which I did and not a second later she called asking why I hadn't texted her my email. She was not professional at all! Especially because it sounded like children were yelling in her background while I was on the phone with her. Like I said, the actual guys that came to my home to move my belongings were great. As far as admin personnel in the office and management, I'll find a different company to use when I need to move again.

If I could give Patrick and the Moving Man team 10 stars I definitely would. In the past few years I have moved numerous times and this team provided me with service that far surpassed every other moving company that I have ever used. Patrick was prompt, attentive to detail, eager to satisfy any requests, and just a pleasure to do business with. Patrick and the Moving Man team arranged my storage unit beautifully and I could go on and on but this is simply a superior company and I would be really surprised to find anyone that would not be satisfied with the work of the Moving Man team and Patrick.

Mr. Smith and his associate's services were extremely valuable forcus. He was able to accomodate my very last-munute request for an earlier date than originally planned. He arrived, right on time, with a warm smile on his face, and completed all moving services impeccably. I will always hire him for any future needs without any second thought.

What a great couple of guys. They were polite, professional, and mindful of their work. They loaded our furniture into the truck like a perfect round of Tetris. We challenged them, with the task of moving an 80-inch, solid-pine armoire up a stairwell. They put their backs and their spirit (and a clear understanding of physics) into it, along with the rest of the furniture for a full two bedroom apartment. We could not have done it without them. .

The team did a wonderful job moving my canopy bed and dresser! They disassembled and assembled it and moved both pieces of furniture up 3 flights of stairs! I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. Great value. Wonderful experience. Moving was a breeze.

I arranged my move with Linda via messaging and on the phone. She ensured her messages and her phone calls were handled timely and professionally. It is evident that Linda values her customers and is respectful of their time and budgets. Her guys were exactly what she promised: strong and efficient. However, I admit, I did not expect the caliber of service they brought to the table. Her guys are polite, patient, friendly, and careful. We ran into some snags that caused us to run behind schedule, and not once did they show frustration or impatience. I cannot stress enough how grateful I am that even at the very end of their long work day, they remained courteous and continued to handled our possessions with care. They were true professionals; nothing was damaged at all, anywhere, and everything ended up right where it should. I'm more than pleased with Heirloom Express, and I recommend them to everyone. To all future customers: these guys are hard workers. Although they get breaks, they are doing the manual labor for us. Be respectful to them, and be kind - having snacks and water on hand for them is a great way to show you appreciate their efforts. Thanks, guys! You made our move so much easier!!

This is my forth time having Scott's Moving and Labor Service move me and my family, and it will not be the last! They are fast, efficient, affordable and they packed my things so neatly into the truck! Usually movers just throw your things on the truck any kind of way, but not Scott's Moving and Labor Service! I have never had anything broken or anything left, thats why I keep going back to them for my moving needs. The guys are so nice and couteous, they have great communication amongst each other, and they always put my things together right, and honor my special request because im kind of picky when moving. Theres no anxiety for me looking for a mover, Im gonna stick with these guys for the long haul. Thanks again Scott, Shakey and Val for the problem free easy move. Me and my family are sleeping good tonite!

Very polite and detailed. Kenny and Luke were proud of their work and meticulous. Has them trim all hedges, pull weeds, and mulch 18 cuyds of beds. The yard looks great at a very reasonable price. Paid for mulch (receipt provided) and 10 hours of labor. It was a hard job and they started to tire but powered through and I’m pleased with work. I will definitely be keeping their number handy for the next yard project.

Skyler reached out to me very quickly after submitting my job. He said he would be at my house at 8 to pull weeds and when I looked outside at 7:57, he was already at work pulling them. He was very polite and professional and more importantly, he did a great job and got every last weed out of my garden. I’ll definitely hire him again

Andrew and team were great! They were very easy to work with and easy to get in contact with. They worked efficiently and quickly. I had a tricky task of pretty much playing Tetris with the things in my garage but they did it all in record time and were careful with my things. I would hire again if it wasn’t for the fact that I was moving to Texas!

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

        • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
        • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
        • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
        • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
        • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.
