My daughter went into the SATs feeling much more confident after tutoring with Mrs. Minden. Looking forward to seeing her scores improve.

My two children have worked with Dickson across a range of math disciplines including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and Trigonometry, as well as SAT Prep. They always walk out the door with a much better understanding of the math concepts they are working on than when they walked in.

Best tutoring service out there!! John Young makes it affordable and convenient by coming to your home. His skill set and knowledge are so vast he can switch from math to science on the fly. John can read the student and teach a concept several different ways so that it matches their learning style. He stays with a concept until the 'light bulb clicks' and makes it fun. We've been with John for 5 years and our children's grades in both math and science have been consistent and top notch because they are truly learning the subject matter. Great SAT and ACT prep course!

I am so grateful that I happened to come across Kimberly Canty and KJS Tutoring Services when I had reached a low point in my GRE preparation. Until I worked with Kimberly I had been using self-study prep services for a year and I had taken the GRE once, receiving a dismal quantitative score of 155. After working with Kimberly I received a quant score of 163. I am giving Kimberly five stars for the following reasons: - extremely reasonable rates ($40 per hour for GRE Math prep), plus she was able to provide me a new copy of the Official Guide to the Revised GRE free of charge - Sessions are held via Skype, which worked perfectly with my schedule, plus the sessions did not lose anything qualitatively; I was able to view her blackboard via the camera, plus we used online practice tests to run through timed drills together - Kimberly not only provides a foundation in the basics, but also reveals the subtle tricks and tips that help you identify and solve the more advanced problems more efficiently - She identifies your weak points and targets them during sessions and through homework assignments - She is incredibly encouraging and instills the confidence you need on test day (a critical point as my low confidence was definitely affecting my performance) Again, highly recommend her services!

Andrea was super helpful then any tutor I have ever had. She makes you feel so smart and give some great advice. We did not just jump into writing the paper which I liked. We talked about it brainstormed and then began. She helped me receive an A on the hardest paper I had to do this semester. Without her I would have not passed.

Joy was an excellent tutor for my twin boys. They were both having trouble in different problem areas in 10th grade math, and she made a plan to successfully help them both. She independently began talking with them about college, and it went so well that we retained her for SAT test prep and other college readiness prep. It was worth the investment!

About

Personal Statement I am a graduate of James Madison University. I double majored in English Literature and Arabic. In college, I started tutoring students of all ages. I assisted them in various areas of study, including essay and Arabic grammar. After college, I worked at a refugee center with children of immigrants. I helped them to adjust to a new environment, while simultaneously adapting to the public school curriculum. Also I have experience tutoring groups of students as an assistant ESL teacher. Working in different environments, with a diverse range of students, encouraged me to explore more creative tutoring methods in order to understand and communicate ideas. Through my experience as a tutor, I developed a multifaceted approach to teaching and learning; a style that is adaptable and uniquely catered to each individual personality. I have found that humor and games are particularly effective in motivating students to achieve in subjects they may otherwise find dull or abstract. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about languages and literature. I have spent much of my life traveling abroad and have a deep affinity for culture.
