Lron & Eric were 2 of the best movers I have seen in a long time. They listened and helped and went right to work and didn't stop until the job was done. Great guys/great company. thank you, Bob Spaulding

I used the Moving Man to transport a piano I had purchased from a friend. It was a short distance move, but he handled it very professionally. He was on time and very meticulous in the handling of the piano to ensure there was no damage. I would highly recommend him for any type of move.

From the initial phone call, to the day of the move, these guys put me at ease. I had complete confidence in my move going as well as it can possibly go. I had a 4 bedroom house and could not do it without these guys! They kept in great contact with me for weeks. They were on time, professional, courteous, and seemed to enjoy their job! I've moved dozens of times, and by far, this was the best move yet. We can probably all agree and say MOVING SUCKS. But these guys made it easy and somewhat enjoyable! They blanketed and plastic wrap every single piece of furniture, stacked all my boxes perfectly in the truck like a Tetris game. It was amazing watching these guys work! It was like poetry in motion. Their pricing was incredibly simple. I had the option of bringing my own moving truck, or having them supply it for me. There were no hidden fees what so ever. They were well equipped with everything they needed to move my belongings at no additional charge! They can't be beat! These guys are anyone's best option for local and long distance moving as they do not use any underhand tactics that I've experienced previously with other moving companies. If I could give them more stars I would. Finding this company was such a blessing!

Hired Axle Movers on 6/23/2017 to move our two bedroom apartment to our new townhouse. They arrived on time and were all ready to go, the three movers moved really quickly and efficiently. They were friendly and took care in our possessions. Loaded everything into the truck and unloaded at the new place. We were very pleased with the movers and company and would use again if needed to move. Recommend to others to call and set up an appointment for a move.

Movers were on time (even a little early) and made fast work of getting the furniture out of the house and onto the truck. They moved the furniture to two different nearby locations and did a good job of keeping track of which item went to which house. Not 5 stars because I had a little trouble getting in touch with the office to set up and confirm the job time. Also, "travel time" made the bill higher than expected. But overall a good experience.

I needed to hire a mover long-distance for a difficult move. Linda, Tony, and their crew at Heirloom movers made it as easy as it could possibly have been! They came on time, with a full crew. They brought boxes & packing materials as promised, and got straight to work packing under difficult circumstances. In just a few hours we were packed & on our way! Having a moving company do exactly what I needed as promised was such a weight off my mind! I can't say enough good things about Heirloom Movers!!! If you need a mover, call them, you won't be disappointed!

I had 3 dressers, a hammock, and an arm chair to move 5 blocks and Darius got back to me immediately offering to do the job that same afternoon. He showed up exactly on time with Kevin and both were extremely friendly as well as efficient with the move. They wrapped everything up to protect the dresser and individually wrapped the drawers to transfer them. There was even room on the second trip to move a nightstand I was planning on moving myself and they threw it in no questions asked. Super affordable and extremely well done! Relieved much of my stress for moving large items a short distance without paying a ridiculous charge. Would definitely recommend!

This was a long distance move for me from VA to NJ and I was not able to be in VA to assist, my brother was my standin. I was also only able to describe my contents and size of my storage unit over the phone. I also had a few very delicate or fragile items. Prime movers were courtesy responsive sensitive to my unique situation and my concern for the fragile items. The quote was fair, they were careful and Ubeiykd highly recommend them! Fantastic movers!

I procrastinated on finding movers but this company replied quickly and answered any questions I had prior to the move. They showed up and go the job done in record time and were beyond pleasant the whole time. I would definitely use them again or recommend them for a move. The price was also right in the range of what I was looking for. THANK YOU!!!

I used Southside Moving & Storage to move from a storage facility to my new apartment. The 2 movers were on-time (actually beat me to the storage facility) which was refreshing considering my last experience with another moving company which left me waiting for 4 hours. There were 2 movers, and they were quick, professional, and very nice. The move was done in about 2 hours. My building also needed an insurance certificate and Southside Moving & Storage was able to get it taken care of with no hassle to me! All in all a great move!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
