Troy is a very nice guy. Unfortunately his knowledge much less skills at installing doors is highly lacking. He forgot everything I asked him for when he came by for the estimate. Bought and installed the wrong swinging door despite me in detail texting him pictures and description of the doors to be replaced. One door he wasn’t supposed to completely replace but just install the slab and he up and decided to rip the trim off the wall but then installed the door backwards opening into the hallway and had no idea he had done this until I asked about it. Then when I went to close the door it doesn’t without resistance due to it not being plumb at the bottom of the frame. Even after showing him where the door was hitting the frame when closing he still tried to tell me that it’s a “pressure” jam and in his experience that’s how they are like I’m an idiot. He shimmed my other door which caused the pins in the hinges to get bent Requiring replacement. And on the last door he didn’t use any shims to install the frame. There is nothing but gaps behind the frame where the hinges go and he rounded out the screws. The whole frame and trim wobbles when you touch the door and oh he broke the handles that were on the existing door and instead of sending his partner to Home Depot to get a new one for $30 and actually “finish” the job he just leaves at 4pm and says he’ll have to come back sometime next week to install it. Well we couldn’t wait as this was our bathroom so we bought a new handle set and installed only to find out the door doesn’t line up with the frame so it can’t latch when closed and if you look at the frame there is a 1/2” gap at the bottom where it meets the carpet. So now I’m out $403 for 2 doors at $138/ea from Home Depot and one frame kit that is $40/ea at Home Depot. Math doesn’t exactly add up on that one. Bad on me for not asking for an itemized receipt. So now I have to pay someone else to come out. Replace the entire door to one that actually swings into the bedroom and hopefully they can rehang the bathroom door so if closes and doesn’t wobble when you touch it.
