These guys were all around amazing. They were quick with their work, fun to chat with, and very skilled movers. While looking around for movers, these were the only ones I found that didn't have at least one horror story and I can see why! Absolutely great and will definitely be calling again the next time we move.

They arrived on time, were very efficient and knowledgeable about pianos. They also took extra measure to protect the piano throughout the move. They are by far the best piano movers I have ever used.

I moved from West Seattle to the eastside. The movers were running a little late and called me to let me know which I appreciated. Ten minutes later they were at my door. Those two guys knew their job! My move took three hours and everything was placed where it belonged in my new place. Thanks Majestic, your employees are your best asset!!

From the very start, Alex was very professional. I called 5 other piano movers, and got the run around about how busy they were and unable to work around my schedule...although I gave them a 2 week window. Price was the best, updated scheduling calls, on time, and honest. I'd recommend this company to all. A+!

Ron sent some really great guys. Jeff and Reginald were amazing. Although we were unprepared for this move, the moving costs from Moving Mass were more than we expected or what we had paid other movers. Otherwise, that was our only negative.

One of the best move experiences I've had! Movers were extremely professional, fast and polite. 2 movers from Moving2Gether were able to achieve something none of 3 man crews I hired previously - 0 damage to any of my walls or belongings! On top of their awesome work, they were not just on time, but they even offered me an option to come earlier which worked very well for me. All my belongings were carefully wrapped and treated with care, so I didn't have to worry about any fragile items that were moved. I really loved my move experience and appreciate having business with Moving2Gether!

I was concerned about finding movers who were reliable (and safe) since my daughter is new to Seattle (and by herself) and we aren't familiar with any services there - I spoke with several other movers who just didn't seem to be on the up and up - then we found Moving Clique! Marcus and his team were very professional and responsive. We had a big problem with my daughter's U-Box shipping to Seattle from Indianapolis - it was several days late from the 'guaranteed delivery date' and when Moving Clique showed up at the appointed time U-Haul assured it would be ready, the box wasn't there - Marcus was very polite and accommodating, we scheduled a 2nd time and there was another delay. Marcus kept me calm in a very stressful situation and his flexibility was much appreciated. My daughter's items were finally delivered and in my daughter's words "these guys ROCKED" Will use Moving Clique again and recommend them very highly!

We’re so glad we hired these movers. We hired them less than 48 hours in advance to move all our furniture and they were very flexible and reasonable in cost. They even dissembled some furniture and reinstalled our washer and dryer. Great guys!

The two movers that came were very polite and worked very hard. My original post was for a piano mover, to just move my piano. Turns out I paid for 3 hours of time, so they agreed to move more than just the piano. I had some very heavy things to move (piano and gas grill) and they did it very cheerfully and efficiently. When I originally posted my request, I put in the notes that the piano had to be moved down 31 stairs. Rick responded almost immediately with a quote that was about half of what I had been getting from other piano movers. I accepted his offer, then he asked about stairs. When I told him there were 31 stairs, he said that would be additional money. His price was still reasonable, I just think it was a little unprofessional to jump the gun with a quote before reading the entire post and understanding the details of the job. Also, the movers were not professional piano movers. In my case, it was OK because my piano is old and out of tune anyway. They were very careful with it, and did a nice job. But if you have a piano that has value, I would call a professional piano mover. For any other furniture, these guys were great! Again, very pleasant and agreeable.

I can't begin to tell you how lucky I was io find such a wonderful moving company...I hate moving as it is but I am at a loss for words as to how I feel about movers having had one company steal everything I owned and held it for ransom for 3 months and over $5000 before komo news ran the story and I got about 1/2 back and everything damaged. I swore I would never hire movers again...but... I found myself in a bind having to move twice in a month I had no choice, I needed help and knew I would have to hire movers. Throughout my search as bids came in only one company had paid attention to what I wrote and responded with kindness and compassion and a promise to make me change my mind about movers. Justin convinced me to give his company that chance and I am so glad I did. He kept his promise. They did an amazing job! Fast, punctual, careful, friendly and fairly priced...not a single item was scratched, everything made it to my new place safe and sound without a hitch. This is a phenomenal company, and I am more than happy.to highly HIGHLY recommend them!

Clutter was awesome from start to finish. We used them for a straightforward, A - B move, and the customer service was impeccable from the booking process through to the payment process! Mo made booking a breeze, gave us an accurate quote--and to make things even better, you can reserve your date/time slot in advance and cancel up to 48 hours before your move if necessary! Not a lot of companies allow for that flexibility and it was greatly appreciated. The guys that ran our move were equally as impressive-- Dallas was the lead mover and did a great job explaining the charges and time tracking. Clutter does a stellar job of keeping things as straightforward as possible with no hidden fees or scary add-ons. Both Ralph and Sadiqi were with him to help move our apartment and all three of them were fantastic! Quick, efficient, and polite! Our stuff made it over without a scratch or any issues. Dallas made sure we were aware of a promotion happening at the time and helped facilitate a call with Customer Care to be sure we were charged correctly. Tammy was our customer service rep and she took great care of us. All in all, a really easy process and we couldn't be happier with the results. Thanks guys!

The movers at AmerApex Moving could not have done a better job moving our belongings over 2,000 miles away. The crew was on time, polite, very careful, and kept the move fun and in good spirits. Nothing was damaged and the price did not budge a penny. Thank you again for making my move across country stress free. I will be recommending AmerApex Moving to all my friends and family!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

    • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
    • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
    • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
    • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
    • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.
