These guys ran plumbing into my backyard greenhouse. They cut into drywall inside the house in order to add a line, then bored through the foundation in order to lay it in a trench that I provided. The guys did a good job communicating their plan and executing it. I took a star off because I had to make a home depot run in order to get a small part that I think they should have provided. Also, I don't have much experience with plumbers, but I suspect that this company runs a bit on the expensive side.

I was able to schedule an appointment next day. All other plumbers I called either never returned my call or was scheduling a week out. He arrived on time. Provided assessment and fixed problem quickly.

Vs. other plumbers, Gil was straight and honest, instead of coming over and charging me on fixing a shower valve, on the phone, he sent me to home depot first to go replace the valve cartridge. which fixed my problem. I love it when an expert up front tries to truly help you and tells you what the problem might be, vs. try to trick you into fixing something bigger than what you needed. Gil, you have a new fan. Thanks, Z.

Enrique is very professional & did good job. I got 3 things fixed- leak in bathroom sink, replacing fixed shower head with hand held & what looked like leak at water entry point. He found that there wasn't any leak at the water entry but was due to moisture. He cleaned the copper pipes & scrapped the wall around and added insulation foam around pipes to avoid this happening in future.

I highly recommend using Chris for any of your plumbing needs! He was extremely responsiveness and truly helped me diagnose the root problem of my plumbing issue! All of the other plumbers said I need to replace my entire faucet (which was a unique, expensive piece). He immediately went to work trying to find a replacement part and found one. He also did some investigative work to determine the water pressure is 40 to 45 psi higher than max by Plumbing Code (throughout my entire condo building). This was the reason for the faucet leak and for my toilet issue as well. I was extremely appreciative for how thorough he was. I would look no further if you ever have a plumbing need!!

I’ve worked with so many plumbers over the years where it seems that selling me something I don’t need is their number one priority. How refreshing to work with these guys! He listened to me, diagnosed the problem quickly, found the parts he needed, and fixed my leaking toilet really fast. And the price was totally reasonable. I hardly ever leave reviews, but I’d really like to spread the word on how much I appreciated the job they did... (plus we called them again when we needed to replace our hot water tank. Same story! Very professional and got us up and running quickly) They really are the best!

Aaron was quick to come by our place and evaluate our plumbing. We are looking to have either pipe bursting or a pipe liner put in for our entire system. Out of all the plumbers that came out, Aaron was the most professional and responsive. His estimate was within reason, but also paired with great customer service. I would absolutely recommend Aaron and his company.

John was great. He answered his phone (which isn't always the case when looking for help), came out right away to provide an estimate (some people wanted to provide it online without even seeing the job) and he came back to complete the job in a timely manner. He was personable, easy to work with, and engaged in a conversation with my husband to explain the situation and the approach he would take. And, on top of all of that - very competitive in pricing. We've now found our plumber if we ever need services again, and will refer him to our friends and family the next time someone asks....Does anyone know a plumber?

Robert from Big Jerry's was "Johnny-on-the-spot." Technically I guess he was "Robert-on-the-spot." Anyway, mere hours after noticing my water heater had a leak, using the Thumb Tack app and getting a quote from Big Jerry's Plumbing I was back in business with a new, installed water heater. Robert and his son explained what they were doing and answered all of my questions. The water heater itself cost a bit more than quoted. The install, to my understanding, comes with a one year warranty on the work should I need a plumber to come out for issues related to the new water heater. The water heater itself has a six year manufacturer warranty. I plan to use Big Jerry's in the future when I am ready to get an outside faucet bib replaced. I highly recommend for your plumbing needs.

Leslie and Pamela are honest people who did not try to over charge like most of the plumbers that quoted me on thumbtack. He quoted me for a two hour job to replace my disposal, but I asked if could also replace my faucet since he was already here. He waited for my wife to run to Home Depot to get the faucet. He did not charge me any more that the original quote since he finished the work in the two hours which he originally quoted for.

We hired Scott after many failed attempts to hire out several other local plumbers. I came in with my expectations and bar set low. Scott is awesome- and not because I had my bar low! He has been punctual, professional, kind, thorough and the most important of all of them- honest. I would hire him again and would happily refer him to my neighbors and friends. He is great. Highly recommend!

I busted my back yard faucet at 8am. Got the water turned off out front, and called Ally Plumbing. They couldn't send a plumber out until 12pm or 2pm. I then got a call back, that a plumber had been freed up and could come right over. Gino showed up and reviewed the situation. Busting out the brick work would have been an extra $150, but Gino suggested I could do that myself, which I did. He then went about replacing the faucet and I was up and running by noon. Very efficient and I appreciated his concern to save me some money. Great service! Thanks, Gino and Ally Plumbing!

I needed my water heater replaced, and I call Jeovany Marrinez. He'said a local plumber who does side job for those who can pay a whole lot. and he came out and inspected it for free, also gave me a great deal on a tankless water heater, and on labor. Way cheaper and way better to deal with then having some random plumber come out who doesn't say more then 2 words to ya. And chargin an arm and a leg.... I would definitely call him again for any plumbing projects... I give him 5 starts and would recommend him to everyone...

I had an excellent experience with Darren from Treharne Plumbing. I need to upgrade my drain lines for a remodel and moving the kitchen sink and clothes water onto the bathroom drain system. The drain consisted of cast iron and galvinized pipe. I thought that the 4" Cast Iron was going to have to be modified but Darren thought we could get by and upgrade the galvinized pipe to 2" ABS and pulled out his code book that he had in the truck to verify. Several other plumbers that came over to bid on my project came the same conclusion which saved me alot of money in plumbing cost. Darren gave me a bid the next day and after all of the bids were in, his was the lowest and but also complete with no lose ends. I schedule Darren to come out several weeks later as i was replacing the water lines myself and needed to get some work done before replacing the drain lines. Darren called to say he was going to be an hour late, which I could understand as it was snowing outside. Once he arrived he went quickly to work getting all the parts in place. I needed to leave to do some shopping and he took a break to pull a permit before he started the actual work. When I came back home, he was waiting for me and let me know that the city let him put his work on my water line permit and saved me another $134 in permitting fees. He finished the rough-in in about 4 hours and filled the system and notifed the city for inspection the next day. The inspector showed up the next morning and everything passed inspection and I called Darren to scheduled him to finish the project. He said he was near by and would be over in 30 minutes to complete the project. He was over on time and connected everything and all was my plumbing was funtional a little over 24 hours after he started. I am very happy with Darren from Treharne Plumbing and will ask him to bid on other projects I have in the future.

          Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

          • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
          • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
          • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.

Follow these additional tips for confidently hiring a plumber or other skilled professional.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
