Thank you Infinite Changes Hypnosis. I quit smoking cold turkey for three days. Then I had a bad day at work, and on my way home stopped for a pack of cigarettes. That's when I decided to try hypnosis. The process is really easy. Kristin helped to understand that my cravings are at a subconscious level and that eventually my will power would just run down. But with hypnosis, she was able to bypass my conscious mind, access the unconscious programming and reboot my brain to not desire to smoke. She was awesome.

I decided to try hypnosis for weight loss at the recommendation of a friend. I was just so tired of trying and failing all the diets and feeling worse and worse about myself. From the first phone call Dale made me feel comfortable and at ease talking about my problems and fears. His sessions were really enlightening. I thought my weight problem was just about bad food choices but he helped me realize it was really emotional. I lost about 50 lbs and more importantly my stress and anxiety got so much better! I had no idea those things were even connected. Now I feel in control of my health and emotions and I feel good in my body. I came to Kimble suffering from severe depression, anxiety and insomnia. Before we even met he emailed me a generic session he designed to help with sleep and anxiety. It helped my calmness and ability to fall asleep immediately! I used it every night for months and still use it on occasion. We met several times over a period of 6-7 months. We would then talk for a lengthy period of time about my current mental state, progress made, expectations and other related topics. Kimball is a very good listener, very calm and patient. He is interested in many things and offers experience and wisdom as well. He also uses this time to mentally 'tweak' the actual hypnotherapy part of the session based on your specific situation. I was always extremely relaxed and calm during the actual hypnosis part of the session, mostly still fully aware, and felt safe and secure. Kimball has a deeply soothing, yet gently authoritative voice. He then sends you a copy of the latest 'customized' session. I listened to them periodically during the day and also every night. They were very helpful in gradually affecting my subconscious to the extent that I could feel myself becoming progressively more positive and confident about my future. I would recommend hypnotherapy as a good tool to help one deal with psychological problems such as I experienced, especially when used in conjunction with other tools such as mindfulness, exercise, medication, etc.. Kimball is a very competent and credible representative within the hypnotherapy profession.

    I went to Lara hoping to reinstate my creative writing spark. I hadn't realized I'd get emotional talking about it, but I didn't feel weird crying in front of Lara because she exudes a gentle, accepting presence. I appreciated how she prepared me for the process, explaining hypnosis in terms I could understand, and answering my questions. She used a number of visualization techniques, and I enjoyed seeing where her questions took me in the fields of my mind. I was delighted by how surprised I was during the process of discovery and creation. I found I knew more about my writing issue than I was consciously aware of, and at the end of the session, I felt hopeful. It's been a couple of months since that session, and I have written more in that time than I have in the past two years combined. "Grateful" doesn't cover it!

      I was looking forward to seeing you today to tell you in person what a thrill this week has been for me. Now finishing up my eighth day of being 'in control' and find it amazing. I don't know why this never happened to me before. We talked mostly about compulsive eating, but the new 'in control' me has solved some other problems of long standing. I am swilling water like a nut to the exclusion (almost) of all other drinks, I've been exposed to temptation (twice in restaurants) and have no problem whatsoever deciding how much I want to eat and stopping when that was done. Also doing my exercises because I want to and enjoying it rather than just grinding through, etc. Looking forward with delight to the next session.

      How does hypnosis work?

      Hypnosis is a wellness technique that works by promoting positive behavioral or cognitive changes. During successful hypnosis, the client should be eased into a state of deep relaxation in which the conscious mind takes a back seat and the subconscious mind becomes more active. The client is often able to let go of critical thoughts and become receptive to the therapist’s suggestions. In this state of hypnosis, motivating suggestions can bypass your usual mental resistance and internal defense mechanisms. For example, even if you want to quit overeating cupcakes, you may have some level of resistance that your rational mind can’t overcome. During hypnosis, the positive suggestions made by the hypnotherapist can bypass your usual blocks, helping you to achieve the formerly unachievable: stopping overeating, quitting smoking, mastering public speaking, or losing your fear of heights. The goal of hypnosis is to strengthen and empower the client’s motivation, commitment and focus.       How is hypnosis used in therapy?

      Hypnosis is a powerful tool to help clients overcome challenging issues such as anxiety, phobias, pain management, hot flashes and more. Hypnosis is also a way to help let go of addictions like smoking, overeating and gambling. In and of itself, hypnosis is not a therapy, but it can be used in conjunction with therapy to empower and encourage the person receiving it to make positive change. Some people are more susceptible to hypnosis and will benefit more from hypnotherapy than others.

      According to Dr. Clifford N. Lazarus, speaking for Psychology Today, hypnosis is a “genuine psychological phenomenon that has valid uses in clinical practice … hypnosis is a state of highly focused attention or concentration, often associated with relaxation, and heightened suggestibility. While under hypnosis (i.e., in a hypnotic trance), it seems many people are much more open to helpful suggestions than they usually are.” The suggestions made in a therapeutic setting get deep into a person’s brain, beyond their conscious thinking, leading to behavior change and the ability to overcome challenges that might otherwise seem insurmountable.

      What is the effectiveness of hypnosis?

      The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services recognizes the healing power of hypnosis and its proven effectiveness for anxiety, pain control, smoking cessation, headaches and more. Hypnosis may be safe and complementary way to augment medical attention you are receiving for a chronic illness or pain, or a way to resolve an addiction or phobia that you are otherwise unable to control. Hypnosis does not work on every person. When scientists began studying hypnosis in earnest, a report published by Stanford University titled “The Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale” demonstrated that different brains respond to hypnosis in varying degrees, and a very few do not respond at all. Working with a trained psychologist, you’ll soon determine whether you are a good candidate for the healing benefits of hypnotherapy.
