Working with Ezequiel as a coach has been from the beginning, more than a satisfactory experience. Firstly because he focuses on the care of the body from the place of health, and generates customized coaching plans for each persona according to the goals they want to achieve. Also, he is someone who has the drive to go beyond our own limits and accompany along the way. He is someone who is very dedicated to their work and find the best results.

Over the past 20 years I’ve tried virtually every sort of fitness class available, from aerobics classes like body pump, step and Zumba, to core classes like Pilates and yoga. Some of them were fine, and some, like Zumba, were ridiculous! More importantly, none of the things I did had much of an impact on my body shape or size. About a year ago I decided to try RichFit Coaching with some of the girls from my office. I was reluctant at first, mostly because I’m at least 20 years older than most of the rest of the group. The classes have been a wonderful surprise. Rich is an amazingly intuitive coach and his classes are incredibly challenging but never grueling. It’s not about how many pull ups you can do or pushing big truck tires – it’s about functional, total-body strength, balance and flexibility – the sort of fitness essential to a healthy life. I saw and felt results within the first couple of weeks. Twelve months later I weigh 25 pounds less and I’m more flexible and fit than I’ve been in years!

I started working with my personal trainer, Peter Lucas, who views things with a holistic approach, to improve overall health, well-being, and spirituality. He’s helped me see obstacles as opportunities instead! He’s helped me with nutrition, meditation, journaling and having a healthy, wholesome, and positive attitude and perspective towards life. Also from him I’m slowly learning some kinesiology addressing physiological, biomechanical, and psychological mechanisms of movement. He’s like a Buddha, really— calm, patient, and kind. Usually I am scared sh*tless to go on walks by myself especially on busy main streets. It’s anxiety inducing because I have Tourette urges where I want to jump out into traffic or I worry about having tics where I fall and roll all over the floor, scraping my knee pretty badly but working with Peter Lucas has helped me formed a “just do it” mentality, living in the moment and stop forecasting so damn much. So now I go on brisk walks everyday for at least 20 minutes, workout five times a day for at least half an hour, and learning how to meditate and eat right. Even though it hasn’t been 12 weeks yet (the amount of time I am working with Peter) I can vouch that he is compassionate, loving, understanding, knowledgeable, patient, humorous, funny, free-spirited, laid-back and down to earth. Overall an amazing human being. I also appreciate his calmness and tranquility when I lunge at him, toss things at him, or have other tourette symptoms that night be startling and nerve wracking to others. It helps me remain calm and less anxious and to focus on my workout. Thank you Peter at Full Spectrum Performance If you need a personal trainer, I’d recommend him Even though I’m selfish and would like to keep this person, this gem to myself hahaha I’m looking forward to continue this transformation with him.

Working with Hannah has been a life changing experience. She is a professional that can accommodate all levels of fitness from the elderly to the adolescent. In my case , I am middle aged and was out of shape with limited range of motion and little muscle mass. The results I've experience, which takes time and patience, have been due to being steady and consistent and trusting Hannah as my guide. She has been there 110% and helped me find confidence and strength I didn't think I had. I managed to stay focused on my goal to get strong and fi without getting hurt. I highly recommend her as a trainer, coach and fitness expert.

Jenny coached me through my job transition, provided accountability in this uncertain season, and cheered me on through every job lead and interview! She reviewed my resume and gave me ways to improve it from a content and design perspective. She provided resources to better speak about my experience and encouraged me to keep going when I was rejected. I especially loved her hands on coaching through the interview process - she even interviewed me based on my resume and provided helpful feedback to help me work through bad interview habits. Having my position eliminated was a heartbreaking experience to work through but I’m so glad that Jenny was able to help me through the process of writing resumes, connecting with others, and interviewing successfully!

I approached Victoria because I needed some help changing my dreams into goals. She is a very effective listener and really took into consideration my own strengths and character traits when tailoring her advice to me. Now I have achievable tasks that I can complete everyday instead of a huge, daunting idea on which I didn't know where to start. I'm also a little easier on myself! I am happier and sleep better each night knowing that I have been more effective and productive, physically and emotionally worked towards a stronger version of myself. Thanks to Coach I take one step closer each day to being who and where I want to be.

Kevin's training and coaching approach is welcoming, and relaxed. I have personally been coached by Kevin and always felt I had not only his ear and guidance, but his support. He has a very unique way of defusing any situation and guiding participants to discover successful solutions. My career took on a whole new meaning under Kevin's coaching and mentor ship. Although I was in the correct field, Kevin assisted me in finding the specific job duties that allowed me to utilize my gifts and move from a job I enjoyed to a job I love.

Tim has helped me work toward my fitness goals. We train outdoors which is great, so we can enjoy the summer weather and get a good workout in at the same time. Tim is kind and easygoing while still pushing you. This was my first time seeking out a trainer so wasn't sure what to expect. I'm glad I found Tim as he's not intimidating and made the experience positive! I would definitely recommend him!

My first job out of college was a nightmare that I didn't know how to wake up from. Sarah worked with me for 8 weeks, and in 9 weeks I had found another career path for myself. My experience with Sarah didn't end there. I received mentorship and life coaching during that time, but the journey continued. I know Sarah will always be supporting and guiding me on that journey for years to come. Working with her is a more than a career jump or timeline, it is life altering and lasts years.

Louise is a creative listener. With gentleness and kindness she reflects on what’s shared and helps to summarize thoughts and feelings. She sees things I don’t necessarily see from my paradigm. The great job of clarifying that she has provided has encouraged me to go deeper and to become more accountable to myself. Her coaching has been invaluable and I highly recommend her as a life coach.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

      What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

      • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
      • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
      • Defining your career goals
      • Creating a plan for job searching
      • Improving networking strategies and skills
      • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
      • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
      • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

      Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

      • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
      • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
      • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
      • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
      • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
      • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
      • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
