Chris is an outstanding drum instructor! My 11 year old son is losing his eyesight due to a degenerative retinal disease, but has been interested in trying his hand at learning to play the drums. As a mother, I was just wanting my son to find something that was "his thing" and that would give him the confidence in himself that he so desperately needed. Chris did not hesitate to take my son on - vision impairment and all! The kindness, patience and compassion he has shown my son has been amazing - not to mention he's a phenomenal drummer! My kiddo had never touched a drum in his life and had no previous experience with a musical instrument. Chris has made the lessons accessible to my child and has gone out of his way to tailor the lessons to my son's needs. My son has a blast! If he's had a bad day or is feeling down, by the time he's done with his lesson with Chris, he comes out energized, smiling and is in the best mood! Chris makes the lessons fun and is so encouraging and positive and makes my kid feel like the best rock star on Earth. In the months we've been going to our drum lessons, I've watched my son's confidence grow exponentially. He feels like he's finally got the potential to be good at something - and that's all because of Chris. You can't put a price tag on that. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Chris Korzin! If you want an instructor who is not only a gifted musician, but genuinely ENJOYS teaching to kids and people of all ages, all levels of experience - and welcomes kids with special needs/circumstances, Chris is the best you will find - hands down!

I really enjoy music lessons with Jacob, I've had several teachers and he is by far the easiest to work with and to learn from. He's a great guitar player and keeps the lessons fun, he also does a good job at making sure that what I'm practicing has something to do with what I'm interested in. I've had teachers in the past that did not make guitar interesting, Jacob is great, well worth the money! I'm much better than I was before I started with him.

I received beginner guitar lessons from Justin. It was great! He taught me the basics and some great tricks to help me remember what I was learning each week. I felt like I improved really quickly with his instructions. I was impressed with how patient he was while he listened to me fumble through the chords!

I have been studying Vocals with Sami for 2 years. He is an amazing instructor, he is patient, kind and a blast to learn with. Every lesson is designed for me based on my progression from the week prior. He is always available to speak even when I don't have lessons to offer additional help. Thank you Sami for helping me become a better singer.

Working/studying with Dr. McLean was one of the best decisions I have ever made for my musical career. She was able to take me from knowing very little about percussion to becoming percussion principal in the Tacoma Youth Symphony; all in just under two years. She methodically picked repertoire, introduced techniques and taught me as I best needed. I would definitely recommend Dr. McLean to any hardworking student wanting to learn how to play the drums/percussion. She is a delight to work with and study under. She also does an incredible job integrating music theory into her lessons! Austin Mangle percussion student of Kendra's 2016-2018

Eli was my drum teacher for several months and I could not be more thankful to have had him. I was a percussionist and drummer through junior high and high school but really wanted to take my playing to the next level. Eli worked with me and I learned more than I ever could have on my own. He is an expert at his craft and perhaps more importantly, an excellent teacher. The primary qualities I look for in an instructor are patience, optimism, and effective communication skills. Eli gets an A+ in all three of these areas. Additionally, he is one of the most passionate musicians and people I have ever met, and as a result that made every lesson a blast. His positive energy is contagious. I highly recommend him if you are considering drum lessons.

I took drum lessons from Phil for many years. I found he is extremely knowledgeable on the subject and highly skilled in the trade, not to mention easy to be around and he always went the extra mile (even when I didn't practice). Being his student was highly beneficial and I feel I got a premium musical education.

Warm regards, Glenn Thilman Testimonial: "My son started playing drums when he was 15. It was his first experience playing an instrument. I thought he was a typical teenage boy wanting to be in a rock band and figured the interest would die, but somehow, Glenn got him hooked and he fed that interest and developed my son's talent. Over the three years of lessons, his skill and confidence grew quickly." -- Lisa (Sept. 28, 2011)

    About

We offer private drum and percussion lessons. Listen to some of the kinds of music we can teach. One-on-one instruction is the best method used for special learning interests or needs, as well as for a focused and intense course of study, even in overcoming personal issues such as discomfort or shyness in large groups. If you belong into one of these group, or just would simply like learning at your own pace, fast or slow, then personalized and private instruction is the way to go. Private lessons are generally half-hour or one-hour long, and consist of exercises and foundation concepts to develop your coordination, rhythm, mechanical independence, sense of time, and speed. Speed in drumming is a result of good training and technique. The first step in developing your skill as a drummer is to establish good technique no matter what the course of study is. Independence is the ability to carry out numerous rhythmic tasks at once: voice, hands, and feet. Your musicianship level is directly related to your ability to do independent work. Private instruction is available for all or any of the following instruments: * Drum kit * Timbales * Ashiko * Bata * Bongos * Congas * Cajon * Djembe * Guiro * Maracas * Shekere * Udu * Other smaller percussion instruments
