I am really blown away by the prompt and professional service I've received with 365. Linh is very responsive and has tackled a big project for me quickly and perfectly. Taking this off of my plate has freed me up to complete a rebrand that must be in place by the first of the year. I wish I had hired Linh years ago. I've made so. Any missteps with my web design and SEO etc. It's such a relief to be able to hand this off to someone so proficient. A million thanks!

I have worked with RGB Web Services for about 5 years. Mike has done everything for me from transferring files from my old PC to my new laptop and setting up my Wi-Fi, to setting up my company website (including graphics). He also has helped me troubleshoot PC issues over the phone as well as email issues with my android phone. His work on my company website is of particular note. Mike and I talked about it in generalities over lunch. With his help I chose a domain name. Inside of an hour he had created a website for me to review. I wrote the website copy and I was up and running the next day! What I think I like most about Mike and RGB Web Services is their responsiveness, creativity, troubleshooting expertise, and not talking ‘geek’ to me. I run a small business out of my home and when my laptop goes down, my business stops. Computers are not foreign to me so I will always try troubleshooting on my own. When that doesn’t work I always know that Mike will take the time (and has the patience) to walk me through the problem. He never loses his cool or professionalism. RGB Web Services is beyond 5 stars in my book. They are a 10!!!

"Sayenko Design helped us refine our mission, design and redesign the site, and ultimately lay the ground work for a great website. Sayenko Design helped the GoGo Running website go from an idea to a viable business in 6 months. This site is a complex site with lots of video and extras and Sayenko Design did a great job getting all of those “extra’s” in the site that we wanted. Thanks Mike!"

I wanted to build a website for my mobile spray tanning business and I really didn't know where to start, although I could have built one myself on one of those many "do-it-yourself" websites, but being a stay-at-home-mom hardly allows anytime for myself; however, I was fortunate to find Chris, with Vertex Online Marketing, through Outsource.com, and he is, hands-down, the most awesome and talented website designer on the market! Not only did he give me a great and affordable quote for the job, he went above and beyond my expectations from start to finish. Chris was very professional, personal, friendly, and understood my passion for the work that I do and shared the same enthusiasm for my business, which comes across in the website that he designed for me. Chris definitely delivered in making my vision for my website come to life, and I would highly recommend him and his team to anyone that is looking for professional and quality work. Also, turnover time was great, as well as response time. Chris was amazing and a joy to work with! I look forward to working with him in the future? -Monica Johnson www.milliondollartancharlotte.com

Skyberry studios did some quick trouble shooting right before an important interview with a new gallery. This was due to an unusual interruption of service with my web host. Their prompt reply helped be prepared with the anticipated question at my interview of why did my website have some functioning problems. Murphy’s law, an interruption of my website function this has never happened in the 5 years of my association with the people at Skyberry who built my first professional website and then navigated me through a rebuild as updated coding for the new mobile devises has become necessary for those of us who maintain a web presence in this brave new mobile world of the Internet. I wanted to thank them for this and let them know that my spiffy website generated the sale of 3 original paintings this week. As I compose my email I thought, “This would make a nice business testimonial for them.” So, Voila! Here it is. Lacey Johnston & Skyberry Studio has made my website a pleasant presence on whatever configuration of a device you access the internet. And, they were able to do it at a price that a starving artist can afford and helped me immerge into to a an established local artist who is not starving. AnnaLancasterFineArt.com has been an effective marketing tool that has generated sales of existing work and commissions, as well as aided my acceptance into sales venues in the Portland, OR area. I’m easily found when minimal information about me is Googled. This tells me Skyberry Studio knows their field and they have elevated my website above the myriad of Internet noise. My site is coded to work in multiple internet and mobile browsers. They are savvy of rapidly changing Internet and Social Network marketing trends. My website and blog site is easily accessible to my Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn presence. Skyberry was able to translate my wants and desires of a fairly un-savvy artist, whose ideas of a good website were stuck in the 1990s, into a clean, smart looking and well functioning site that is 21st Century in all its detail. I’ve received compliments from many of my very young, tech-smart artist piers and collectors. The easy and sensible navigation through my website is appreciated and complimented by my seasoned associates in the art community and clients who are in my class of the technically challenged. In fact, I’ve noticed some changes to their website that I know have been modeled after mine. Kind of cool to feel like a trend setter when you are over 50; did I just admit to that? Updates and changes have always been made promptly by Skyberry. They are great at trouble shooting all things Internet; that world, which can seem almost hostel and intimidating to someone like me. I highly recommend them and have done so to everyone who has stated, Wow! Awesome website, I’m contacting Skyberry Studio for info? Skyberry’s excellent work in building and maintaining my website has been the best marketing tool for us both. Sincerely, Anna Lancaster Anna Lancaster Fine Art

They provide an excellent customer care, all my needs were met, always with a heart to serve. I am thankful for all they've done, for the attention, the time, the care for my business needs. I can guarantee you won't regret using their services. The cost for each product/service I've requested was way low compared to the quality of their work. Very satisfied!

We engaged Lori Paulson for the design and marketing of several projects including the rebranding of a medical practice to reflect an expansion of services and providers, and the promotion of a youth-oriented, educational non-profit organization. To say that Lori consistently exceeded our expectations is an understatement. Her creativity, insightfulness, eye for detail, and ability to not only work with our content but take our ideas and express them visually is extraordinary. Aside from taking the time to truly understand our needs, Lori worked tirelessly to make sure every component of the design product was delivered on time and perfect. The original logos, website visuals, copywriting, and comprehensive print materials including signs, letterhead, business cards, brochures, and intake forms she produced were amazing, valuable, and highly effective. Lori is a truly gifted consultant and a tremendous pleasure to work with. Her warmth, professionalism, and passion for what she does made the whole process effortless. We cannot recommend her enough!

Kristen Faiferflick volunteered (thank you thank you thank you Kristen!) to conduct a heuristic evaluation of our fledgling website www.wecount.org in June of 2016. She is unfailingly professional (even when during a hectic launch, we canceled on her more than once)! She knew, better than we did, exactly what we needed, and returned a thoughtful and very detailed evaluation less than a week after we met. Her insights have proven extremely valuable as we continue to work to improve the user experience on our website. Kristen is clever, quick, and on-point.

I have fairly strong opinions on how I want the site to look and Jeff was totally fine with that.

We always wondered if we would ever find a trustworthy and solid company to build our website. Let's face it -- a strong online presence is the most important facet of marketing and when S9 Digital came along we jumped all over them. They have been amazing to work with and they truly are the real deal. We not only hired them to build our site, but also recently re-hired them to design a social media post and responsive landing page. I totally recommend hiring this company.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

What should you look for in a website designer?

A professional web designer creates the look and feel of your website, collaborating with you to choose colors, creating logos and other branding materials, establishing page layouts, and creating sample pages. An important part of web design is making sure the site is functional, meets your goals, and is easy for users to navigate. When you’re looking to hire a web designer, start by reviewing the person’s portfolio. Look for samples of work that match what you envision for your website, including experience building the types of pages or features you want. Make sure the web designer is familiar with your industry and understands both industry trends and web design trends — an old-fashioned or out-of-touch site will turn customers away rather than intrigue them.

Because web designers tend to work as freelancers on a project basis, they must be excellent communicators, willing to manage their own work, and available on your schedule. Some critical skills, such as working collaboratively and responding enthusiastically to feedback, aren’t core to good web design, but make working with a web designer much easier. Finally, look for a web designer who has cross-functional knowledge, such as understanding marketing and conversion rate optimization in addition to web design.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

        • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
        • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
        • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour

What do you look for in a web design company?

The web design company you choose must be able to interpret your company’s mission and identity and turn it into an appealing website that connects with potential customers. They must help you reach your target audience and meet your business goals. A web design agency should have on staff both talented web designers, with fresh ideas and extensive technical and creative skills, and a marketing team that knows how to drive traffic to your site, encourage visitor engagement, and convert visitors into customers. Web designers should be able to build in search optimization and integrate your site with a content management system and e-commerce tools. Look, too, for a website design company that understands responsive design and can optimize your website for mobile devices and desktop browsers. The right web design company understand current design and website trends, has experience building sites in a variety of industries (not just yours), and has an expansive portfolio of live websites. Finally, don’t simply hire the cheapest bidder — in web design, as in all things, you get what you pay for.

How do you hire a web designer?

You’ve determined that the best way to create a professional, modern, mobile-friendly new website is to hire a professional web designer to build it. To hire the best person for the job — and to get the web design that best fits your company’s identity — it’s important to ask a few key questions:

        • What’s the scope of the work? Will the website be basic with just a few pages about your company, its services, and contact information? Or will it also have an e-commerce section for online shopping, a blog, or content for visitors to download? Before you hire a web designer, make sure you have a thorough, specific list of the components you must have the designer include in the web design.
        • What do you want your website to look like? Consider websites that are similar to the one you’d like to build, ideally in the same industry or serving similar types of customers. Build a set of examples of types of pages, design aspects, and website features that you can hand off to the web designer — the person you hire should have experience creating websites with the features you want. If they don’t have the right skill set, they’re not the right pro for you.
        • What’s the web designer’s start-to-finish process? What will the final deliverable be? Before you hire someone, make sure their availability works with your timeline and that their process meets your expectations. Most important is finding a web designer who will work collaboratively with you to create a successful online presence.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
