What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I’ve successfully worked with many, many dogs and their owners. You can get as many certifications as you want, but the real education that matters is the dogs you’ve handled and behaviors you’ve corrected. Hands-on experience is priceless in this field.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
In 2014 I started volunteering as a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind. I learned so much from the four years I was in the club, and I raised two yellow labs, Irina and Jam. From then on, I couldn’t stop training dogs, even though I didn’t continue volunteering for GDB. I continued learning as much as I could and started taking on clients who gave me a chance to practice. Ten years later, here I am!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I specialize in training service dogs, but I’ve also worked with traumatized or rescued dogs, puppies who are so young they haven’t developed any vices yet, dogs with aggression issues, middle- or old-aged dogs who still haven’t been potty trained, and everything in between.
