Event Catering (Buffet)
After reading through their reviews with almost 100% being 5's I felt that I needed to check them out. Although our auction for 200 isn't until May, our experience has been excellent. They put together menu choices in my budget. The food at the tasting was outstanding and excited about the passed hor d'oeuvres and buffet that we will be serving to our guest. More later... after our auction. 5/26... Wow...our auction is over and what a great success and, the delicious food was a great part of the success. So much praise over the hor'd'oeuvres, buffets and beautiful desserts. One guest who goes to many auctions, said it was the best auction food of any she's attended. Hot items...the bacon wrapped dates, the spinach mushroom ravioli, roasted vegis, red wine braised beef brisket and Gramma's Pistachio cake which was the 2nd dessert to go on the Dessert Frenzy. I did get a bite of the Devil's food butterfinger cake after the event...yummy...maybe this will be my go to cake for my next birthday in December. Also, the staff was so professional, friendly and efficient. Real customer service people. Another auction planned for next year, and of course, Emerald City Cakes and Chocolates will be our Caterer of choice. Way to go Chef Paul and Stephanie. Thanks again for all your hard work...it shows that you care what you are doing.May 26, 2017Verified
Event Catering (Buffet)
Chef Paul and Stephanie recently catered my wedding. They were prompt, professional, and worked with us to design the custom menu of our dreams for an affordable price! My husband and I shopped around before selecting them, and you will not be able to find a better value in the Puget Sound region. Importantly, Chef Paul has a diverse repertoire and the taste and presentation of their food are top-notch. Our guests were blown away by the food and we got so many compliments on many different dishes that were served. Favorites from our wedding were the poke, salmon, kalua pork, grilled Mexican street corn, lemon and carrot mini cupcakes, mushroom crostini appetizers, habanero salsa and authentic dairy-free horchata. They also prepared many fresh toppings for the taco bar and brought all the condiments we wanted. If you are looking for a delicious, custom menu at an affordable price, you can depend on Chef Paul and Stephanie to deliver!Oct 14, 2016Verified
Although we didn't end up hiring Stephanie and Paul for our event, I was impressed and very appreciative by how professional and flexible Stephanie was with me during our communications. I had a very limited budget for a school event and she was willing to work with me every step of the way to create a menu and service plan that fits. Furthermore, the menu she and Chef Paul came up sounded amazing! Because I had to meet with other committee and board members during this process to make any decisions, there was a lot of back and forth communication and Stephanie was patient and always prompt and thorough with her responses. Although I am sorry I didn't get to experience chef's food, I would definitely work with Emerald City Cakes and Chocolates again if I had another event that requires catering.Mar 1, 2017
Paul and his team catered an amazing sushi dinner party and desert for us. The food was amazing, the team was very nice, professional, and talented. We'll definitely be using them again soon.Apr 30, 2017Verified
Emerald City catered my daughter's 18th birthday. They help come up with a menu that would please teenagers but also give them a new experience. The food was amazing!!Feb 20, 2017Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? We work with every customer to meet their budget as best as we are able. We have no hidden fees or costs and all of our charges are explained thoroughly and laid out in line-item form on our estimates for every customer. Whether it be a $20.00 per person BBQ or a $100 per person formal, multi-course plated meal, every customer gets the best quality service and product available.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? After the initial bid/email contact, we try to arrange a free phone consultation to go over the details of the event. After we take down as much information as we are able, we then put together an estimate and initial menu for the customer to review. We can then work with them to start fine tuning everything to make sure it is as perfect as it can be!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I actually went to college to be a History and Humanities teacher/professor. While in college, I found my love for cooking and left at half-way through my senior year to start teaching myself about cooking. I am a self-taught chef whose skill comes from years of hard work and passion for the craft.
