Our Experience with our English Tutor, Theodore has been outstanding. Theodore tutors twice a week for us and comes each and every week prepared with a well thought out lesson to meet our specific learning needs. I would recommend Theodore for his English teaching skills for sure, just so long as its not on Tuesday or Thursday evenings between 6 and 7pm. :) Brady

Scott was very helpful when I needed a tutor to help me brush up my French before a trip to France. He is patient, enthusiastic about teaching, always positive in his comments, and flexible about teaching what the student wants to learn. As a result I was able to speak with many people in France, and connect in a way that would not have been possible otherwise. I highly recommend him to any student of French.

Best tutor ever! She took a moment to find out my learning style and taught to that. She always encouraged and challenged. I am excited to work with her again.

The Learning Curve offers unparalleled service to its families. The online reporting is a wonderful tool for parent communication that is not available at other services. As a tutor it feels great to be able to tell families that they can look at my progress report twice a month to know how things are going with their child. The 100% satisfaction guarantee offered by TLC is also unique and a wonderful way for families to know they will always have their needs met.

      About

My name is Shawn Brookins, and I am currently a biology and chemistry premed double major at Pacific Lutheran University. My long-term career goal is to become a pediatric neurosurgeon, but until then, I enjoy spending my time to inspire appreciation for and success in the sciences and mathematics as well as all common core subjects. My passion for tutoring stems from a deeply rooted belief that one's education is paramount in his or her lifetime towards achieving goals, fulfilling potential, and accessing new opportunities. Allow me to elaborate on my qualifications. I graduated salutatorian of my graduating class of 543 students, with a weighted GPA well above 4.50. During my high school tenure, I completed 8 AP courses, earning the highest honor of AP scholar with distinction. These courses were across an eclectic academic breadth, including calculus, chemistry, English literature and language composition, government, psychology, etc. Currently, I will be taking my second semester of calculus at PLU to fulfill my math requirement for my chemistry degree. Alongside this course load, I operated a successful tutoring business with volunteer tutoring also, totaling well in excess of 500 hours. My availability is quite flexible, so please don't hesitate to ask questions because I am a very flexible person! In closing, thank you for your time and consideration. I hope to hear from you soon! Sincerely, Shawn Brookins

My work with my clients stands out because I design a unique program to meet the learning needs of each student. I don't use a cookie-cutter program. I have a wide range of materials and resources to choose from. My clients see results. I love seeing my clients make gains academically! I love meeting with parents and hearing that their child is improving in school. I absolutely adore seeing improved grades on report cards and having clients recommend me. Most of all, I love hearing kids opinions of learning change from "I can't do that." to "I love reading and I can read anything!"

I like to keep things simple. Because I also teach full time, I also make it a point to find new ways to teach concepts so that it's practical for your use. I like teaching math. It's that sheer joy of teaching and sharing with someone something you know. I consider it a gift to be able and willing to teach things and I take pride in that. The reaction I get from people when things click is also a major reason why I do what I do.
