Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My name is Coire Walker, and I will help you become the guitarist you want to be. I love to balance the technical, creative, and theoretical elements of music to build my students into innovative, well-rounded musicians. Lessons are low-pressure and fun, and all ages are welcome. If you are looking to pick up the guitar for the first time, I will teach you foundational playing techniques, small amounts of music theory, and work together with you to design a practice routine that addresses your needs. If you have plateaued with your playing, I can offer new perspectives, provide theoretical context, and share creative exercises to challenge you. I have been playing guitar for twenty-five years and teaching professionally for fifteen. This is my primary occupation and it suits me well; the long-term relationships forged and the medium used couldn't be more rewarding to me. My music degree is from Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, CA. Please reach out to discuss your goals today! Thanks, and looking forward to it! -Coire

As an intermediate guitarist who started studying with Coire a few months ago, I've been incredibly impressed with his lessons. Things that I really appreciate about his lessons: * I can bring a set of questions that range all over the map, and he'll work through them * He's been able to improve my strumming & fretting technique (including giving tips on muting and articulation) over zoom * He's very patient, and able to explain concepts no matter their complexity clearly * He's been able to help me take apart some complex songs by ear and break complex solos into manageable sections Highly recommend, these lessons are one of my week's high points

I have been taking lessons with Coire for about 6 months now and feel that I have learned an incredible amount for such a short amount of time. I have had other guitar teachers, but Coire is the one teacher that has allowed me to explore unique musical genres and learn the songs that I love instead of learning from a book. There have been times that I picked a song that was too complicated for my level, but Coire worked with me to create an easier version that I was happy with. Coire and I have even created unique covers of songs together on the spot! I have never heard of another teacher doing this and I feel really lucky to be able to work with a teacher who is not only willing, but enthusiastic! Coire has an incredible knowledge of music theory and the way that music and science intersect. As someone who loves science, I have really enjoyed learning about why certain notes sound good with other notes and the way that sound waves intersect to create what we perceive as a beautiful melody. Overall, I have not only enjoyed my lessons, but also learned fingerpicking and barre chords in a few short months, 2 skills that I previously believed I would never be able to pick up. I could not possibly recommend Coire enough! If you are looking for fun lessons with an awesome dude that is more like a friend than a teacher, definitely go with Coire.

Coire is a great teacher with a lot of knowledge to share. I have a few years of experience and he did a great job figuring out the state of my skill set and has tailored the lessons perfectly to push me forward without overwhelming me. His lesson homework is focused around actually making music and not just rote memorization of scales and patterns. Highly recommended to beginners and experienced players alike!

Details: 26 - 44 years old • 0 - 2 yrs of formal training • Yes, can read guitar tabs • What the teacher recommends • Rock • Folk • Blues • What the teacher recommends • Yes, the student has an instrument • 60 minutes • I travel to the guitar teacher

Coiree is a great teacher! He gives you the why when he teaches you something new which is very helpful. I enjoy our lessons very much and know I am learning faster than I normally would because of him.

Coire is very talented at teaching as well as playing. I came in as a true beginner, and with his guidance I have developed a solid foundation. He allows you to submit songs you would like to work towards so that classes are rewarding and you learn songs you actually want to play. He makes guitar both approaching and enjoyable!!!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Lessons are $60/hr and offered online through Zoom. Every student of mine has a personal folder on Google Drive for our lesson material. I found that creating extensive documentation provides my students the tools they need to succeed.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I encourage every new student to share a thoughtfully constructed playlist with me. I want to understand what you love most about music and where you want to grow. Where do you see yourself in three, six, and twelve months after beginning our lessons? What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player? How do you learn most effectively, and what structure will you need at home to succeed? What do you want to achieve by taking lessons with me?

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated from Musicians Institute in 2005. I have been teaching full-time since then.
