Introduction: I am not your typical Reiki practitioner/life-coach. I have an extensive background in music and used to be a professional opera singer. How does this inform my practice? Well, let me tell you a story. A few years ago when I was working on developing my music career--I was stressed, to put it lightly. I had a serious case of stomach ulcers and constant and random anxiety/panic attacks. I took medication, saw therapists but nothing I did seemed to really help--until I found Reiki. I admit, being a college graduate with a highly curious yet critical mind--I was skeptical. However, after one session my anxiety all but disappeared and within a month, my stomach ulcers had healed. Going through this experience was eye-opening to say the least. It was then that I had a massive and shattering realization--doing music professionally wasn't for me. Without warning I had gone from aspiring opera singer to saving up to travel the world, explore and find out what I was truly placed on this planet to do. Over and over, Reiki kept popping up and finally when I was abroad in Bali, Indonesia--I decided to start my Reiki training. Traveling abroad and living in Asia forever transformed my perspective on life. I came to understand the raw essence of practices like Reiki and Acupuncture without the "fluffy-hippy-dippy" reputation that these healing arts sometimes have in the West. I come from two worlds--the rational, thinking world of the West and the intuitive, feeling world of the East. I completely believe in the validity of both these life views and strive to maintain their balance in my practice. Now where does my music/arts background come in? Let's just say that my life-coaching practice is very creative, dynamic and a safe container for pure, unadulterated self-expression. I am a unique, creative and compassionate practitioner who 100% believes in seeing each individual for their mind, body, AND soul.
I love coming to work each day, knowing that in some way I am helping others--in some way I am changing the world for the better if only just a bit. My job is always an adventure, always exciting. Every human is so vastly different, and yet there is so much the same. Every session I have is so unique to that individual. Although I am in the position of coach and practitioner, most days I feel very much the student and that giving Reiki and offering life-coaching, I am learning so much about life and what connects us to each other and the world. Of course, what really inspires me about my work is seeing the tangible transformations that my clients have made in their lives. I cannot possibly think of anything more rewarding.
