I started as a complete adult beginner with no more than a week of the steel drums in elementary school. Don has helped me on the way to become a real cellist. He has seen it all and can help with any type of problem. He focuses on the fundamentals and quality so practice is transferable between music. A true professional and a fantastic teacher for aspiring and advanced cellists.

Dr. Krentz is an excellent teacher of both technique and expression, enabling the students to truly excel and thus thoroughly enjoy playing the cello. His dedication to his students is seen in every lesson and he works tirelessly to ensure their progress and success. His methods are backed up with extensive, sound research and he explains the reasoning beneath each physical motion of playing the cello and creating a beautiful tone. He's an inspiration for myself, another cello teacher who's been very lucky to work with him!

Haeyoon Shin Studios offers amazing cello lessons at a top notch level. The studio is intense and pushes students beyond the skill level they thought possible. The studio has a well thought out practicing method that all students use, and it completely changed the way I myself play the cello. I cannot imagine where I would be with my instrument if I had not joined the studio, nor can I believe how much I improved in such a short time. She is a high demand teacher, with an extremely busy schedule. If you know going in that lessons may be rescheduled, and that time must be flexible between the student and the teacher, then all you have to do is practice hard, and watch your playing improve exponentially.

How hard is it to learn to play the cello?

Taking cello lessons can be a rewarding experience for students young and old. The rich sound of the cello is well-loved in classical music and is found in all genres of contemporary music from modern folk to rock. As with any instrument, how hard it is to learn to play cello depends on the practice and dedication you put into it. It’s true that some people are naturally more adept at learning instruments than others, but with lessons and a daily commitment, you too can learn to play the cello.

Cello lessons can be a smart investment, especially for new players. Even professional cellists benefit greatly from ongoing training, but for those new to cello it’s especially important for forming a strong foundation for playing.
