Prompt response from Thumbtack, to dog trainers and the one I've booked with, Critters, seems to be first rate. We haven't had our first session yet so will respond later. but happy to have found this trainer through your service.
I hired Cynthia as my dog trainer for several reasons. She got back to me right away, she was reasonably priced, she had great reviews, she has worked with a lot of German Shepherds, and she comes to my home. She has been here twice and is teaching me how to train my dog. She is patient, kind, and really knows her business. She is always encouraging, never impatient or unkind. I am looking forward to more lessons and I plan to take my dog to her for a two week stay so that she can really get my girl going in the right direction. Keesha is somewhat fearful so I feel that for Cynthia to be able work her magic she needs to have Keesha close by on a daily bases.
If you're looking for a dog trainer who excells at providing instruction for both dog and owner, with documentation of such training, Jana's the trainer for you! Hiring a dog trainer via the Internet is a scary proposition; you won't go wrong when you hire Jana. She'll tailor the type of training to what your dog needs, and adjust the training location and schedule to fit into your busy schedule. My dog and I couldn't be more pleased.
I had limited time to get my dog trained and Trish understood that, and squeezed me into her schedule two days after I called. She is very professional, nice, and funny. It's very clear that she loves dogs, and within 10 minutes of her meeting mine, I knew she would treat her with love, and respect. The training they do is very easy, and extremely effective. I would recommend their services to anyone looking for a dog trainer. One last thing, if you think the cost is expensive, think about it this way. The collar they give you (included) is about $200, plus the leash (I got two, because one broke) and which is probably about $10. The full cost for the lessons is about $500 (10% discount if dog is adopted, so mine was $450). Subtract the cost of materials and it's only $290. Divide by the four lessons and that's only $72! (I even got two lessons for free) Per lesson, for PRIVATE lessons. That's less than petco (and way better, I tried). Anyways, if you need your dog trained, go here. You won't regret it. They are the best
Molly Wong came today and after just an hour and a half I knew she was the perfect trainer. Our dog responded very quickly and we learned so much that we can immediately put into our daily routine. I'm very grateful.
I hired Rob end of last summer for my 4 month old lab...everything we learned with Rob has worked great. Porter completely listens to the magic word and he reacts with no hesitation. I highly recommend Rob to train your pup!!
Very professional and knowledgeable of all dog breeds and the training they require. Rebecca has years of experience and is also very responsive and reasonably priced for training.
Haylay was wonderful and very helpful with our boxer puppy. She provided sound advice and hands on instruction. The training tools she gave us we still employ today and have seen excellent results with our puppy.
We have enjoyed Jamie as a trainer. She has excellent ideas and brings her dogs to help our dog learn to accept others. When we are ready, she is going to help us pick out a puppy that would work for our family. I would highly recommend her.
We needed someone to check in on our dog and offer conpanionship and exercise during a long day alone. Merrilee took excellent care of our very energetic boxer mix, even taking her jogging, which she lives! Merrilee also was great about communicating with us before and during the visit and even sent us pictures of our dog. It was such a relief to know that our dog received thoughtful care and attention while we were away.
We love Jeff. We have incorporated at least one session a week to get our new rescue dog trained and break old habits. Jeff is thorough, gentle, and patient. We highly recommend him!
Risa is a lover of dogs and dog lovers. She has worked with my daughter for over a year with a rescue dog, Lexie. Risa has been patient in the training--she does not move on if more work is needed in a particular area, either on behalf of the dog or the owner. We have appreciated her work with us, and Lexie is a much more pleasant part of our family now. Risa also has a heart for pairing folks with disabilities with therapy dogs. Training and therapy dogs--Risa at George and Friends is THE Go-To Person!
Such a caring person. She taught me a lot in just one session - I am glad some trainers out there have an understanding of dogs and don't just follow what is the most popular training method. Very versatile trainer! Thanks again, Brenda H.
I was looking for advanced obedience for me and my dog. Youngblood thought me so much on how to handle my dog and not to give up. A few times he would tell me to do something a certain way and I would think "ok he's full of it, this won't work". Every time I was proven wrong. He's the only trainer that I trust 100%. My dog and I have come a long way thanks to him.
Fabulous trainer. I hired multiple other trainers before finding her. My dogs seem like different dogs.
We were very lucky in having Cayla for a trainer. Tanner is a very big, stubborn dog, and not easy to control. If we ever encounter a problem these days, we always go back to the training and ask ourselves, "what would Cayla tell us to do?" By following her instructions, it has been the only way we can control our hyper, strong headed dog. Cayla’s guidance, instruction and teachings are invaluable to us and vital to our success with Tanner. We strongly recommend her.
Bringing our Shiba inu to Holly was the best thing we ever did. We were at our wits end and didn't know what to do with her aggression. Holly took her in and treated her like her own with love and she has never been better! She listens, places, sits, comes, everything. We can have her around company and finally a real part of our family. Wouldn't have made it without Holly. She kept is updated and assured that she was greatly cared for when we did to want to let her go, well my boyfriend. :) best trainer out there! Do what's best for your family!!
In my conversations with dog owners, I find that evaluating good recall in a dog seems to be fairly subjective. Contrary to what many dogs owners think, recalling a dog that has just run upstairs at home where there are relatively few novel distractions is not really considered a good test of recall. Professional dog trainers rely on more stringent measures and more rigorous tests. For example, developing good recall means that you can recall your dog at the dog park 9 out of 10 times when the dog is engaged with other dogs and at a fair distance. Recall is a life saving cue or command, beyond just a convenient behavior. Dog Trainer Dude focuses on basic obedience and, particularly, behaviors that ensure safety and adhere to proper dog behavior etiquette out in public in urban areas, such as recall (coming on command). Most of my clients come to me after discovering that the behaviors taught to their dog with the assistance of conventional training methods are unsustainable. I correct unwanted behaviors like inappropriate and unsolicited jumping on owners and strangers. I work on the sit-stay command requiring the dog to hold for more than just a few seconds. In other words, I polish off the kinds of things you thought you were going to be sustainable, but have proven not to be. I also work on shaping new behaviors and addressing more complex problem behaviors that result from environmental constraints or limited socialization.
I will pet sit, train your canine in basic manners and obedience, etc. I walk dogs, clean them up (nails, teeth, coat, ears), etc. I have a service dog in training, a retired service dog. I've studied training for years. I love animals.
I do basic and advanced dog obedience training. I offer behavior modification, dog hiking and dog sitting. I also do AKC confirmation and obedience handling and training.
I want more than anything for people to enjoy their relationship with their dog to the fullest...and this requires that they can trust their dog to respond to them under all situations and circumstances. Happy dog..happy,happy owner!!
