Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: We use 4k cameras and shoot our footage in full cinema 4K resolution. That means we capture approximately four times the detail of ordinary HD video cameras. This level of detail is truly stunning! You don't have to have a 4K television to see the difference in image quality. Even when published in HD, our footage is significantly sharper than many of our competitors. We use professional quality audio equipment. Without quality audio, even the most professional video will have an amateur feel. The microphone we place on the lapel of the groom is one of the smallest in the world and won't stick out like a sore thumb in pictures. For wedding videography, we try to stay out of your way. Many videographers have a different approach and always seem to be right in your face. Don't get me wrong, we understand the importance of close-ups, but we try to capture as many shots as we can by staying back and zooming in. The last thing we want to do is to make you feel uncomfortable on your big day! FILMING! The day of the shoot is the most exciting part of the job. This is especially true for weddings because there is so much emotion and tons of opportunities to capture beautiful shots.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Ever since I was just a little guy running around with my Ninja Turtle camera, I have loved photography. I have over 50,000 pictures in my personal collection! Coming from a photography background, there was a slight learning curve to get into video, but I picked it up quickly. I created Gray Jay Films as a fun way to gain new video projects. My wife joins me as the second shooter, and we have a great time filming weddings!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When you watch sample videos, scrutinize them. Are the shots creative? Does the audio sound rich and full or shallow and tinny? Do they even have audio at all? Are scenes shown from multiple angles? Is the color true to life? There are many aspects to a quality video, and you don't need to be a professional to notice the difference.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Think about lighting! Lighting is such an important aspect of videography, and if you want a beautiful cinematic wedding film, you should spend a little time thinking about it. As great as it might sound to have a candle-lit ceremony, it is almost impossible to capture a clean image with such a shortage of light. We go over this with our clients during the consultation, so don't worry about it!
