Dan and crew did a great job installing a replacement shower door and installing a new light post on the front lawn. Friendly and efficient.
Brian is great to work with. He responded quickly to my initial request for quote. He was clear about the cost of my project. Brian arrived on time with a smile on his face. He offered a solution to a trim issue that I had with new windows. Really appreciated working with Brian and will be calling him again in the future.
Jeff installed new pergo floors, baseboard, stained and installed new oak doors and trim. He also rebuilt our stair system with all new oak and balusters. At this moment work is in the finishing stages, but here is a sample before and after.
Bob did an awesome job installing our doors and trim. Exceptional workmanship at fair and reasonable price. I would highly recommend him. We will be calling him again for more work. Love Thumbtack site. I will definitely be using it and Bob again.
I needed to have some siding replaced that had blown off in the wind. Dan came and gave an estimate and explained exactly what needed to be done. He was here just one day and repaired and replaced all the siding and even fixed some other siding that was loose. Dan was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend Gurgul Brothers for home repairs
Chris did a great job on my unique situation to install a vanity light in an old house with plaster walls. Looks great and he completed the job quickly. Very professional without overcharging. I would recommend him to anyone.
Wasn't here to meet Jake but my wife noted he was very sweet and professional. He called me after taking care of exterior light replacements explaining extra steps he took to ensure the job was done right. He also wanted to ensure everything was satisfactory (it was!). Everything looks great and I will be reaching out to him for future projects. Thanks again Jake!
The problem was with my side garage door causing locking problems. Though everything looked level and plumb there were some very slight tolerance differences. We took the strike plates off and cut the the nails holding the door frame to the rough opening. There were also two screws, one top and one bottom that were also removed from the strike side. The brick molding from the strike side and top were then removed allowing us to tap the top of the strike side in toward the garage and then tested the locking mechanisms for alignment and ease. Once in proper place, we secured the strike side top and bottom to hold it in place. When we had removed the brick molding we discovered that once the door was properly aligned, the sheathing on the strike side stuck out approximately a 1/4 inch. It became clear that the original contractor failed to square up the hinge side of the door opening with the strike side of the door opening thus there existed a slight torqueing of the door in the opening. With that, and the addition of cold and heat expansion and contraction, locking the door was problematic. We managed to trim down a 3/4 by 1/4 area of the sheathing so the brick mold would sit flat on the sheathing and door frame keeping the appropriate setback from the edge. We were also able to accomplish the work without affecting the siding at all. I had a piece of brick molding consistent with what was there so we were able to replace the strike side molding which I cut on my compound miter saw. Everything fit in perfectly and the door is easily closed and locked. What remains is some slight shimming, recaulking the top and strike side, and another coat of paint on the trim.
Lyndell was great! He was on time and responsive. He was able to easily replace garbage disposal and install new door knob. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Would hire again for anything he says he can do. Also, turned down project a different that I offered because he said he wouldn't be the best for that. This is great because you know he isn't bidding projects he can't perform - if he says he can do it, then you know he can.
I hired Bill to repair/replace some doors, install a sink, paint and a few other small odd jobs around my house. He did a nice job on the work and the cost of his service was very reasonable. I think he might have gotten the job done a little faster if he put in full days and had his girlfriend not come with him to work every day, but overall, I am very satisfied with the job.
I was blown away by the ethics and professionalism executed by all of the crew that worked on my 100 year old home. I asked for a two color paint job, Install new soffit and to replace a gabble end that had rotted out. The quote was competitive and fair due to I feel I got my monies worth.
Home improvement jobs performed included replacing old trim around garage service door, cleaning/re-staining deck, patch up work on interior wall, and finishing trim around interior of front door. Tim was very meticulous with his work, his pride in his work was very evident. I would highly recommend Friends Network for any projects. Affordable and very honest about completing work. I would use service again in future.
Martin was laid back and easy to work with. He installed vynal siding on our garage that had come with the house when we bought it. The previous owner never put it up. Unfortunately, an important piece was missing that we were unaware of so Martin put in an order for it so that it would match. He and his crew were able to install everything except the one wall that needed the missing piece. So we had one wall not don't for about 2 weeks, until the piece arrived and we were able to schedule a time for Martin to come back out and finish the job. Not a big deal, he was able to trim in the door and windows to make up for lost time and we couldn't be happier. We also have a bunch of mature hostas and other plants around the garage and Martin and his crew were very careful, nothing was damaged it's like they weren't even there. Good guy, with an honest upfront price. Would recommend.
Joe and Walter did a great job repairing long sections of rotting wood trim on the exterior of our house. They worked efficiently. Joe completed the work for the price we agreed upon in advance even though it was a bit more involved than he expected (and I was happy to pay a bit more than agreed upon to compensate him). The work took three days to complete and each day they left the worksite clean and orderly. Communication was excellent and Joe was punctual. If this sounds different than many contractors, you're right. Joe is much better than most and will use him on other projects in the future. Later this year he will drywall, mud, and paint the inside of my garage.
They showed up when everyone else couldn't even RESPOND. I'm ever grateful. We still have a long way to go on COMPLETING my project but we're working HAND IN HAND.
It was an all around pleasure working with Luke! He always responded quick, showed up on time, and really knew what he was doing. I had him instal new baseboards and trim in my mother-in-law’s house. We are both very happy with the quality of work and would recommend him to anyone needing a detail oriented carpenter. Thanks again, Luke!
Chris is a very talented artist and exceptional handyman. We had him work on a front entry project. From helping us with the overall concept; to removing our existing materials; to patching drywall, custom painting, installing a new light fixture, etc...the project turned out perfect. Chris is very professional, timely, and detail-oriented.
We hired Jay Charles to install laminate tongue and groove flooring as well as tile in a rental property for us, they did a great job at a fair price! Will use again in future.
Painting Highly recommend Steamatic for painting and repair services. Own a wood shingle and stone two story house in need of routine painting. Steamatic offered me the lowest price. They started the job in about two weeks which was great because it gave me time to decide on what color paint for the siding and trim and buy it myself. Took them about a week to finish the house and by the time the weekend came around, had the house looking like new! Called Bo that Sunday to see if his crew could fix some roof shingles an re-attach a gutter with new clips. They came out later that week, finished the repairs in about two hours and actually painted my mailbox at no additional cost to match the house. Really suggest you give these guys a call. Nice people , hard working and know their stuff. Jerome W
Jason did a great job installing our new kitchen floor. I will definitely be hiring them in the future.
I hired Rick and his team to rehab a house that I was flipping in Waukegan, IL. When he came in to give me an estimate, I knew I was going to hire him. He knows what he's doing, he is full of ideas, he has the experience and it shows. We put together a list of things that had to be done and Rick added in items as the project went along. He always communicated with me and sent me pictures of the progress, which was great for me because I worked during the day and couldn't be around much to monitor the work. This was a big project, from re-doing an entire kitchen and bathroom, flooring, interior and exterior paint, demo'ing, pouring concrete, changing windows, to all the little things, like putting in new doors, installing railings, outlets, and so much more. The entire project took a little longer than I had hoped, but a lot of it was due to Rick being very detail oriented, thorough, and overall doing an excellent job. I would hire Rick Grosskopf again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a professional, dependable, and hard worker who will get the job done. Thanks again to you, your wife Lori and your entire team.
Todd did an excellent job of installing three exterior doors and a storm door. He also did an excellent job of replacing a ceiling fan for me. Todd's prices were reasonable. He did a very thorough job and even did some additional work that most probably would not have done. Todd was very prompt on communication and getting the work done.
Tim was on time and on point. I had a door replaced with new trim put around the exterior, as well as some other things I wouldn't want to do myself, like new exterior lights put on the house!
Working with Steve was an amazing, POSITIVE contrast to previous contractors we've had in the house. We gave him a "test drive," by asking him to install a couple of windows. When we experienced his workmanship and dependability, we then contracted him to patch up the drywall and install the kitchen cabinets we had already ordered from another company. Dependable: Steve came when he said he would---or called when he was running late. He also went above and beyond what was "required" of him to do his job. We didn't have a car big enough to bring one of our windows home, so Steve picked it up for us, and brought it home! Quality of workmanship: His work was outstanding. Steve paid attention to big AND small details (leveling each of the cabinet doors!); carefully followed--or improved upon--the cabinet plans; touched up the paint that was scuffed when cabinets were installed; and cleaned up after himself every day. With the drywall, he took the time to go over it two or three times, until the new part was seamless with the old. With the window trim, he made a custom stain that beautifully coordinates the window trim to the cabinets, and gave me extra for our future use. Knowledgeable: He knows the code, and chooses to go beyond the minimum. He moved one of our windows, and told us the minimum header was eight inches. He chose to put in an ten inch header. When the rough work was done by the other contractors (plumber and electrician), he pointed out a couple of things that weren't up to code, and said we should be sure these details were done before the rough inspection. He helped me save thousands of dollars by walking me through how to be my own general contractor---at no cost to us. From time to time, Steve would even call me to see how things were progressing, and let me know the "next step," to keep things moving. He pointed out ways he could have saved me money on the cabinets, if I had ordered through him. We're hoping to do an addition on the house in a couple of years. When we do, we'll be calling this guy again. Thanks, Steve, for your outstanding workmanship! I LOVE our kitchen! :)
Frank Cleppe has done work for us on several occasions. From siding one of our ware houses to window replacement to some ruff carpentry to finish work in one of our resturants. He has always gotten his work done on time and done well. His prices artndt so bad either. If we need some things taken care of we will call him. Jeff Weber Suburban Motors Harley Davidson
I hired Joe to install new recess lights. He was on time. Came prepared with everything needed to finish the job. He finished the job on time perfectly. He was very responsive to my requirements. He cleaned after himself. The price was right and exactly as he offered in his estimate. I wont hesitate to hire him in the future or recommend him to anyone.
I cannot say enough good things about Kevin and the beautiful work he has done in my home. My home was outdated with original bathroom and kitchen from the 80’s and in need of many repairs. Kevin remodeled and refurbished the first floor which included painting, new exterior doors, installing new floor and wall tile in the kitchen and bath, installing a new counter top and sink and repainting my kitchen cabinets. It all looks awesome. But it is not just Kevin’s work that has me highly recommending him. He is just a great person to work with. I didn’t know where to start and Kevin gave me confidence in my decisions and feedback when I needed it. He has the patience of a saint, trust me. His attention to detail goes beyond most and his timeliness in finishing the job was right on schedule. If you are looking for someone that can do it all, Kevin is the person to contact. Donna Z.
Kevin has done an extensive amount of work in my house. He has been indispensable during the remodeling of my home, and is one of the few contractors that I trust. Some of the more noteworthy projects he has done for me were to rebuild the structural walls on my first floor to create an open concept. He has reframed walls to accept wider exterior doors, including a double French style patio door. He has installed all of my new kitchen cabinets and countertops. He has also done much of the wide board trim on my first floor. I can say that after observing his work over the years first hand, he does an excellent job. I would recommend him to anyone, not only for his framing and structural skill, but for his trim and finishing work too. I have also seen his exterior work (siding, roofing, aluminum wrapping), and it is of the same quality as everything else he does. He has a lot of experience, and it shows in his work.
We are starting a business relationship. Stephen is a great guy and I know we are going to build a great relationship.
