Brian is great to work with. He responded quickly to my initial request for quote. He was clear about the cost of my project. Brian arrived on time with a smile on his face. He offered a solution to a trim issue that I had with new windows. Really appreciated working with Brian and will be calling him again in the future.

I usually don't write reviews but Paulina and her staff really deserves one. See I'm a physician with a super busy hospital schedule and my timings are crazy. Paulina reached out to me herself and was very good about finding a day that works with my schedule and time to send over Rebecca and her mom since she was already committed someplace else. Paulina personally kept in touch with me letting me know of any delays that might happen their first time. Rebecca and her mom were VERY professional, thorough, careful and clean. I'm extremely OCD with dust and hair on the floor or bathrooms and they did it perfectly. Even made all the beds and threw out the trash and wipped the windows and all. Then Paulina called after making sure I was satisfied. OH also they cleaned my vacuum after too. Great service. Will definitely have them back and permanently

I replaced one window with a broken frame and seal and several windows with broken balances, latches, and shoes. Stan and Sam came out and did an assessment and gave me a price quote right there - they ordered the materials with no money down like the other poster said. The prices they quoted were reasonable and I saved a lot of money over full replacement. 2 weeks later they came out and did the job in one afternoon. At one point during the repair. Great crew - very professional, helpful, and honest. They are very responsive over the phone, take the time to explain the repairs, and show you what needs to be done. Would do business with them again and highly recommend.

I could not be happier with the kitchen windows we got. Such great quality and excellent workmanship. Russ was fantastic to work with and made this purchase so simple. He had great suggestions and I’m glad we went with the slider windows vs cranks. What a wonderful company. I would highly recommend them to everyone who is looking for quality windows. I plan on calling him for more windows. His team of workers were fantastic. They made sure to keep the area clean and ran into a few snags on our end (previous owners bs) but they fixed it no problem and I have even more confidence in their work vs what we had (lol). Thank you Russ for making my kitchen windows a dream come true!!

I have hired LiveClean several times for house cleaning and the crew is outstanding. They work efficiently and are very kind, courteous and professional. They get my mirrors cleaner than I ever could and are great at paying attention to detail. I live in a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment and it usually takes them about 2 hours to clean. If they lack in any way, it is that there have been a few scheduling issues that hopefully are now straightened out.

Martin was laid back and easy to work with. He installed vynal siding on our garage that had come with the house when we bought it. The previous owner never put it up. Unfortunately, an important piece was missing that we were unaware of so Martin put in an order for it so that it would match. He and his crew were able to install everything except the one wall that needed the missing piece. So we had one wall not don't for about 2 weeks, until the piece arrived and we were able to schedule a time for Martin to come back out and finish the job. Not a big deal, he was able to trim in the door and windows to make up for lost time and we couldn't be happier. We also have a bunch of mature hostas and other plants around the garage and Martin and his crew were very careful, nothing was damaged it's like they weren't even there. Good guy, with an honest upfront price. Would recommend.

When I contacted them to know if I should change my old windows with a new one, they advised me not to buy new windows; that they will help me fix those windows and I will also spend less for the job than buying new windows. I gave it a trial and it worked. Thanks!

I hired HGR Construction Services, Joel Sevilla by the recommendation of my heating and air conditioning contractor. I hired him for an insurance claim for hail damage to my aluminum siding, he worked with the insurance adjuster for almost 2 months to get me the most that he could from the insurance company. They ended up paying for partial of the siding that was damaged but more than what they first offered because Joel brought to their attention many things they had missed. Instead of replacing the siding with aluminum again I upgraded to vinyl and paid the difference of the upgrade. I also had him install all 15 new windows that were well over due to be replaced. Joel is very easy to work with the crews that came to do the work were very professional and thorough. Any problems that arose were taken care of immediately and professionally. I plan on having HGR Construction Services, Joel Sevilla re-roof my house this coming spring. I would recommend Joel 100%.

Universal Windows was great. Loved the service and quality. We replaced 8 windows (that were 100 years old) and opened up two more holes in our wall and installed two new windows to get more light into the house.

Jerry is very nice guy, and he came to me twice to discuss the window project. His price is very reasonable, and he ordered high quality windows. The window installation process was very smooth, and passed the village inspection without any problems. I would use Jerry or Remodel Rangers again.

Som came out on the 4th of July to give us an estimate on windows. He was extremely professional and very personable. He provided us with a fair price, and even threw in a window for free. Overall, it was a great experience so far. We'll see how it turns out once the windows are in.

Steve Clausing construction provided us our 2nd quote on window installation. I won't name the 1st quote but Steve installed 9 windows a little less than the 1st quoter would do FIVE windows for. Overall, he did a fantastic job replacing our 65 year old windows with new double-pane windows. (5 in the kitchen, 3 in master br and 1 in guest br) Can already feel it's warmer in house.Thank you Steve and Paul for a great job well-done!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
