A little background on where I come from vocally:
I've been in choirs since 2007 in various ranges. I started studying music theory in 2011 and have taken private lessons (classical style) at the local community college where my range was expanded from C3-F#6. I would consider myself an amateur.
I started taking voice lessons from Mary 3 weeks ago specifically for false chord screams. I had been damaging my throat due to improper technique from trying to figure it out on my own and I needed extra guidance on how to do it safely. Based on her classical background, I already knew she would be qualified for teaching this.
I really like the fact that Mary explains the anatomy behind how our vocals work (though I didn't need as many explanations due to my medical background), and she also gave great visuals to help hone in on that proper technique.
I have to say at first that I was nervous and apprehensive about how far I'd progress in such a short period of time, but with Mary, I'm confident to say I'm miles ahead of where I was before and I'm genuinely impressed. She even managed to expand my upper range to a G#6, which I didn't think would be possible with false chord screams, lol. Another thing too that I should add is that she's very easy to work with which is another plus for people like me who get mic shy/self conscious at times and also deals with moderate social anxiety.
It's definitely worth investing in perfecting your technique and having a really great teacher helps immensely. I'm happy to say that I can recommend Mary for anyone regardless of skill level and I've thoroughly enjoyed her lessons so far!

.Mary is an awesome teacher! When I found out she offered lessons I was very excited because she sang in one of my most favorite bands " Luna Mortis". She knows a lot of vocal styles of singing from Classical to growling. It is amazing how much better I feel I can sing because of her lessons. I feel more confident and very happy. She answers all my questions and makes lessons really fun. =) She is very inspiring and talented. I totally recommend taking lessons from Mary =)

I've had 3 lessons with Mary so far and she has been nothing short of fantastic! I'm immensely impressed with the depth of her knowledge. She's incredibly approachable and easy going and that helps for somebody like me who's still not very confident in their voice.
She truly makes her lessons an enjoyable experience, so the only 'bad' thing I could possibly say is that the hour she takes me for seems to fly by way too quickly. But still, she has lit a fire in me I never knew I had and for that I cannot recommend her highly enough! :)

Very very insightful ! Very helpful and she takes the time to explain any questions the student might have! Very patient !She adjusts the lesson to your own needs ! She experienced and has all the knowledge on the subject !

Mary was EXTREMELY easy to get along with, work with, and understand. Her teachings can be used IMMEDIATELY to get the best version of you that you can possibly be. I highly reccomend her to anyone looking to take their skills to the next level. She can get ya there.
