Introduction: I am a very passionate musician who wants to share a wide knowledge of this noble art! I am proficient at ear training and keyboard harmony. I can teach guitar, piano or organ, and electronic music. Recently having been graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Classical Guitar Performance, I know a lot about overcoming stage fright, since I have also studied Alexander technique and theatrical improvisation. I'm very easy to get along with, and I will adapt to the needs of the individual student. I would focus on creating proper technique and study habits that will maximize practice time and nurture the joy of performing. Once technical problems are out of the way, I will focus on musicality and phrasing, tools that will enable the student to express his own interpretation of the music freely.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I usually tutor young kids for Spanish or guitar, but I also teach other skills, such as theatrical improvisation, jazz piano, and the principles of electro-acoustic music. Aside from teaching, I am a regular performer, so I constantly practice what I preach. I avoid the dreaded comfort zone, so I keep pushing myself to alien territories, the newest of which is the challenging world of stand-up comedy. I can assist my clients in conquering stage fright and experiencing freedom under pressure!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Keep a spirit of non-judgement in regards to your child's musical tastes. Any style of music, if done well, can be great! The motivation to learn and perform comes from love for the music itself, so in my experience it is futile to burden our children with the baggage of the refined tastes of previous generations. It is often easier to teach an arpeggio or scale through Metallica than through Mozart, so trust me that your child will be happier and more successful following his own compass rather than ours.
