Our team hired mike after an impressive interview, and after thorough review of his outstanding work portfolio. During his time with us, his dependability, consistency and impeccable attention to detail in conjunction with the ability to manage a team of other freelance writers allowed him to progress from a freelance writer to Editor In Chief. He also held the title of Team Manager, and his team consistently achieved and exceeded weekly and monthly goals. As Mike's project was concluded, our administrative staff have saved his contact information because he will surely be contacted when his expertise is required in the future. It is without any hesitation that I recommend this outstanding individual.

Laura worked with me on an extensive book project on contemporary art for the University of Lüneburg, and her profound grasp of the subtleties of language was invaluable, particularly in editing such complex subject matter. As a translator it is extremely important to me to be able to work with a good editor, who is not only technically versed in grammar and punctuation, but also approaches each text with sensitivity and understanding, as Laura Freeburn certainly does.

"I had the pleasure of working closely with Gretchen Kalwinski for nearly three years at TransUnion--and I can't say enough good things about her. Gret is a writer/editor super-pro who also happens to be really good people. At TU, she was an ace at creating all kinds of digital and print marketing content; she was our department's resident AP style guru and stingiest proofreader; she's a creative thinker with great business instincts; and she's the kind of generous colleague who might pop into your cube offering things like a) salted dark chocolate squares b) black-currant flavored stress-relief lozenges and c) cutting-edge SEO and email best practice insights. And that's just what she did in that one job. Having seen up close a lot of the other work she's done, I can also tell you she's unbelievably versatile. B2B corporate copywriter, editor in many places, arts/culture journalist, creative writing instructor....no matter the communication challenge, Gret nails it. P.S. I'm happy to talk on the phone or email, if you'd like to hear me rave more.

Heidi is amazing – she is professional, easy to talk to and most of all, she transformed my book into a more interesting and readable format. Her input gave me the confidence to put my story out into the world. I would recommend Heidi to anyone who needs an editor. She understands what the writer’s challenges are – she “gets it”. She’s great!

I have worked with Steve on a variety of projects, as a contributor to his anthologies (he's a fine editor) and as a collaborator on stories. He has always displayed a great attention to detail and produces excellent work (check out his "Blue Kingdoms" series where he has designed covers, edited others and contributed fiction. First rate work and a perfect trifecta of skills). When I developed the idea for a serial fiction series, Steve was one of two writers I asked first to contribute.

i worked for elaine when she was editor of the chicago tribune's home & garden section. i loved working for her because she always trusted her writers' vision, and let us soar where we believed we might find an updraft. she is one of the hardest workers i know. and recently she produced a spoken word concert, where again she showed her limitless capacity for imagination, for bringing together artists, and for attending to every detail. she is fabulous.

        About

I've been in the book publishing business since 1987 and continue to flourish in this industry despite its current state of flux! I've been an in-house acquisitions editor at a major trade publishing house in NYC; in fact, I worked in the editorial departments of Putnam/Perigee, Basic Books, and HarperCollins. I have a Certificate in Book and Magazine Publishing from the NYU Summer Publishing Institute. I've been a bestselling author and done extensive publicity and platform building for my books. I have a degree in Latin, minor in English Linguistics and Grammar, and studied line editing and structural editing from working with top NYC editors. I've ghostwritten and done developmental editing on many bestsellers including New York Times bestsellers. I have testimonials from many name-brand clients. I do not take on clients unless I feel I am the right person for them. I am motivated by the desire to help other people create books that will change the world for the better. I never give 100 percent; I always give more. Going above and beyond is just the way I'm wired. Hence, I'm selective about the projects I'll take on. I work within people's budgets and with where they are, right now, in the process. If I can't help you, I'll do the best I can to hook you up with a highly qualified professional I trust. I don't make recommendations lightly.
