Introduction: As a professional musician with the United States Army Field Band and a serious chamber musician, I enjoy performing music for audiences in the Baltimore/DC area and across the entire country; however, my true passion is teaching! I have years of experience teaching young people and adults, and my students have won regional competitions and gone on to study music at prestigious music schools like Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. I also enjoy teaching the most amateur of students: those who enjoy playing on a recreational level.
I love teaching because it is an act of sharing. I share my love of music with my students and I reveal to them the secrets that make music a joy to perform. My favorite moments are when students make breakthroughs in their lessons - realizing their potential as musicians and artists.

Erik is always energetic and passionate about his students. He loves teaching and he always makes lessons feel like home. Erik has helped a lot of his students (myself included) get into some of the top collegiate music programs in the country! Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who loves clarinet and wants to improve while having fun!

Erik is a fantastic teacher. Under his guidance and thoughtful teaching style my daughter's playing improved greatly. In addition, as a musician she gained considerable confidence and self esteem. Erik challenges his student while still being playful. He is both professional and easy to connect with. One of my daughter's favorite parts of lessons was doing duets as Erik is an outstanding musician, as well. He also has a great laugh. :) You can't go wrong with Erik Franklin.
