Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have been teaching music lessons since retiring from teaching gifted education in public schools back in 2005. I have a doctorate in education so I feel I bring unique insights into my lessons. I tailor my instruction to each individual and their personal musical goals. With children, I use method books to teach reading music, supplementing that with playing songs they are motivated to learn. With my adult students, we discuss their musical goals and work toward achieving them. I also teach ukulele, beginning bass guitar and piano, and dulcimer. I specialize in acoustic guitar and playing finger style, but I can teach most other styles as well. (I'm probably not the best choice for learning heavy metal!) I would enjoy helping you or your child have fun with music! I love working with my students. Music has been a part of my life since elementary school, so I know the lifetime of pleasure it can bring. I offer my students opportunities to perform, if they choose, and I enjoy seeing them sharing their talent with others. I have former students off at college now, still playing and enjoying their music.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge $25/half hour lesson. Hour lessons are $45. I ask that students pay for the month at their first lesson in order to reserve that time slot.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

At your first lesson I like to chat about your musical goals. It’s important to me that students enjoy playing music as soon as possible and play the style of music that they prefer. If your goals include learning to read music, we can definitely pursue that goal. However it isn’t necessary to read music to enjoy making music.
