Bass Guitar Lessons (for adults)
Very welcoming fun little spot. Best part of playing music is playing with others so you can't go wrong having both the options of unlimited lessons along with a group to play with and jam.Sep 27, 2016Verified
Guitar Lessons (for adults)
I got SO much more than I asked for connecting with Altered Stage. Not only does my membership get me access to unlimited guitar lessons with an awesome teacher, it also includes a great space with all the equipment needed, a welcoming community of likeminded and friendly recreational musicians, and the chance to play on-stage with my fellow members once/month. I went from being the guy who could play chords and learn simple songs through tabs to someone who understands music theory and feels comfortable jamming with strangers at the drop of a hat. A huge change from where I started and not at all what I expected. AS gives members the chance to get involved as little or as much as one wants. I could not recommend them more to musicians at any level.Mar 13, 2017Verified
Altered Stage is a great concept. I was looking for a place to learn guitar and did some research. After I saw the Yelp reviews, I gave them a call. I am so glad I did! Jeff Bergau and I spoke for an hour, just getting to know one another. He was very reassuring and encouraging. I have been taking lessons from Jason Steele. He is great - enthusiastic, helpful, positive, and motivational. I highly recommend becoming a member and taking lessons from Jason. For the drummers out there, Dave Agee is incredible! In the time that I've been a member, I've learn so much and have become a member of this community of kindred spirits and fellow music lovers. The new space at 657 W Lake Street is incredible: the overall vibe is great - a testament to Jeff Bergau's spirit and commitment. There are private and group jam rooms as well as a relaxed atmosphere to encourage members to chill and spend time with one another. The people and place are truly unique.Mar 17, 2016
Guitar Lessons (for adults)
I've never met a cooler, nicer bunch of guys than the ones at Altered Stage. There's a sense of community and togetherness that you won't find anywhere else - and there's ZERO ego! Get better at a specific instrument (the teachers are amazing), play live shows at a rock club, outdoor fests, and so much more. Oh, and there's beer and wine in the fridge!Apr 17, 2018Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? Our members pay a monthly membership fee of $300 per month, which gives them unlimited lessons, access to our studios to practice, inclusion in member jam sessions and gigs, and the option to participate in our periodic recording sessions (from which we publish our members' music on all major digital channels like iTunes, Spotify, etc.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We offer a free trial lesson for all prospective members to make sure our unique vibe is right for them. When a new member signs up, our instructors help identify their musical goals -- which can range from learning one of their favorite songs, to playing on stage, to writing and recording an original song. Every member receives very personalized instruction based upon their interests and level of experience. We've taken members from zero musical experience to playing live within weeks...in one case only five days. We encourage all of our members to participate in our regularly scheduled jam sessions with other members who are always encouraging and love to work together with new members. It's a great vibe and, we believe, the best and most fun way to learn.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work? Our lead guitar instructor, Jason Steele, and lead drum instructor, David Agee, are both trained musicians and have been teaching for more than 15 years each. Dave also teaches drums and music theory at three different high schools. Both are encouraging, supportive, and make the learning process fun and interactive.
