FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Tuition is billed per studio year and is divided into 9 monthly payments based on how many lessons are in the school year. The monthly rates for 2020-2021 School Year are as followed: -$122.50 a month for 45 minute lessons -$162 a month for 60 minute lessons Tuition is pro-rated for students who enroll midyear based on how many lessons and months are left in the studio year. Tuition not only covers your weekly lesson, but also $45 in books, sheet music, &/or tracks for each student. This way, families do not have to worry about the extra cost throughout the year! There is a $50 registration fee for each student enrolling in my studio. This fee covers a multitude of things including recital costs, office supplies, materials for group lessons, accompanist fees and much more!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My typical process for working with a new voice student is to do some vocal warm-ups at the piano to find their vocal range as well as to get an idea of the student's voice type and tone quality. Because vocal warm-ups can feel awkward at first, I also ask new student's to prepare a song to sing for me at the first lesson. This can be anything from a pop song, a hymn or as basic as "Happy Birthday." This helps me gain a better idea of the student's tone and to identify their strong points as well as the areas that we should address first (i.e. breathing, posture, pitch matching, tension, etc.). New piano students learn the basics of the piano at the very first lesson including the music alphabet and how to sit correctly at the piano. I make sure that the student has played through at least one or two songs before they leave their lesson. Depending upon the age of the student, we may play a game or do some cup tapping as well. My goal is to make learning music not only effective, but also, FUN!
