How did you get started doing this type of work?
We began business in October 2010 as Luxury Home Solutions; however, the owner (Norman R. Bloxham) has been in the construction industry in Lee and Collier counties for 34 years. Norm formerly owned Gulf Coast Homes and Bloxham Homes, Inc. where he successfully completed over 1,000 custom homes.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
LHS is building a custom 28000 square foot estate in Naples. Normally a home this size would take 3 years to build, but we expect to be finished by September 2016 finishing just under 2 years. This process of building a beachfront custom home with the owner has been great!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Check they are licensed and have a background check. Verify reviews and ask for a reference list from the contractor. Look up company complaints on BBB, state and local licensing departments. Never sign a contract before reading and being provided a building/ remodeling schedule.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
What do you need and want completed be specific. What is your budget be realistic, a good contractor will let you know if what you are asking for is within the budget you set. Also, a good contractor will be upfront about the cost of changes/additions outside of the original scope.
