FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My education consists of childhood piano lessons, self-teaching, music studies at Oberlin Conservatory, and occasional ongoing studies with master teachers.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My sister was my first piano student- I was 10, she was 5 and most assuredly, it didn't go smoothly. After receiving my MFA in acting from USC, I began teaching piano lessons at a music school called Music Stars and Masters. I found working with children to be very fulfilling, but I wanted to expand the type and age range of my students, and I wanted to be free to structure the lessons in a more individualized manner and really cater to each student.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I’ve taught students as young as age 3 on up to folks in their 50s and 60s, beginners to advanced. Over the years, I've taught a variety of special needs students, including children with ADHD, severe epilepsy, autism, and various learning disabilities. These students have taught me a great deal about the different ways a brain can process information, and they've given me great insight into flexible and personalized teaching methods. I also have the privilege of currently teaching a young man who is legitimately a genius and watching his meteoric rise as a pianist.
