This was my first experience with Clean Air Radon Systems and with them being a new company I was a little hesitant, mainly because I had never worked with a Radon Mitigation company before. However I was recommended to them by a home inspector I knew and thought I would give them a try. It was also encouraging to hear that Schan Willis the owner of the company had previously done Radon Mitigation with another company for nine years. The homeowner was in a hurry to get this done because they were moving to Texas as soon as possible, when we closed on the house. So Schan Willis, the owner of Clean Air Radon Systems was able to come out two days later and gave the Homeowners a quote, that was actually $250 under a different company estimate. The work was scheduled for the following Friday and was finished in one day. I was representing the buyers in this transaction so my client and I wanted to check out the quality of the work. This was a large ranch home with a huge crawl space, gravel bottom. It was a four foot high crawl space, so we were able to go down and look at it . I knew a little about the mitigation process but I must say I was amazed at the quality of the work. As I mentioned this was a huge crawl space under the whole house and Schan had spread out thick dark plastic wrap across the whole gravel bottom of the crawl space and used wooden strips on the side to bolt it into the concrete walls and then calked it all around. He had installed the customary piping down into the ground with other necessary tubes out the floor of the crawl space as well as out the wall. Also the meter to monitor the system and the air pressure flow. Schan stayed down in the crawl space with us and answered all of our questions. Outside the house, where the system exits and goes up above the roof was done very professionally and looked very good cosmetically. The unit outside the house had a nice white cover and was low to the ground in case, as Schan mentioned, if you wanted to plant a bush and cover it up you could. But it did look good, not an eyesore like I have heard some can be. All this work, Schan did himself in one long day. Hard to believe. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with Clean Air Radon Systems and would definitely recommend them to any future clients needing Radon Mitigation.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every home is different with it's own unique challenges for each Radon mitigation system installed. With this in mind pricing will be based off of the size, and scope of each individual home.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If possible we like to personally inspect every home prior to us coming over for the install. After we have had a chance to inspect the home, we will walk through the entire scope and plan for the job. If customer agrees to plan, and terms I will email the official quote, and we will set an appointment for installation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Schan has close to eight years of Radon mitigation experience. He was trained by one of the oldest and most respected names in the Illinois Radon community. Furthermore, with Illinois being a "regulated state" all Radon professionals must take an approved course, and pass a state provided test. Continuing education is also mandated.
