Matt has been teaching drums and percussion for 14 years now. He is currently one of the Percussion Director's at Brentwood High School in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Matt is currently in the studio and on tour with TCN Country TV’s Amber Leigh, their shows include heading and support act performances with The Wreckers, Kenny Chesney, Trace Adkins, Fergie, Lady Antebellum, Cowboy Troy, Gloriana and many others.

Matt Crowning was the percussion director for many years at our school in Delray Beach, FL. When learning he was moving away I knew he would be impossible to replace. He inspired the best from my students and opened my eyes to the potential of the percussion program at our school. He is also one the best musicians I have known and will ever know. On many occasions he wrote music for our ensembles, which was never less than quality. He is one of those rare individuals who have managed to achieve the finest as both a professional musician and fine teacher. On his instrument he is an expert in concert music, jazz, rock, or whatever you would hope. Whether he is teaching a class, visiting as a guest clinician, performing, or coaching masterclasses, he is the best of the best. He is truly passionate and enjoys working with kids. My recommendation is to get Matt working with your students as soon as you can. Once he is booked you'll be hard pressed to find anyone similar!

It is my great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Matthew Crowning. I am currently the Director of Bands at Spanish River High School, in Boca Raton, Florida, and it has been in this capacity that I had the pleasure to work with Matt. I hired Matthew for the past ten years to teach, compose, and arrange music for the percussion section in the percussion ensembles, jazz band, concert bands, and marching band at Spanish River High School. In this capacity, he has demonstrated very strong skills in music pedagogy, composition, organization, and interpersonal communication.
Matthew is a very skilled musician and a talented teacher. Under his instruction, my percussion students grew tremendously, both musically as well as personally, and consistently earned superior awards in all of our music assessments. He successfully taught groups of students with wide ranges of skill levels, from beginners to All State Band members, in a manner that challenged and motivated each and every student, without overwhelming them.

Matt has been the percussion instructor for my middle school band for several years. He has a wonderful rapport with the students and has achieved outstanding results. The kids get excited about playing advanced literature and have a sense of pride in their performance. I have also worked with Matt instructing local high school marching bands. His writing and teaching are excellent and have received high marks from judges and colleagues. Matt is very professional and dependable. He has always been a man of integrity.
