Fred is an amazing guitar teacher! We actually found Fred through Thumbtack, which I had never used before. I had always found music teachers through friends, so I was a little nervous about starting with a new teacher that nobody I knew personally had worked with. That being said, it was a GREAT decision. Fred is by far the best music teacher we have ever had. My son actually plays guitar every day now, not just at his lessons! His level and range of play have improved dramatically. He plays all types of music now and even teaches himself songs based on what Fred has taught him during lessons. We are so grateful to Fred for teaching not only improving my son's guitar skills, but also for reigniting his love for playing! He looks forward to his lessons and goes straight for his guitar whenever he has free time. Thank you, Fred!

My 9 year-old son and I have been taking guitar lessons from Fred for about 5 months and I can say that he is an excellent coach. Fred is very encouraging, patient, friendly and knowledgeable; he has tailored our lessons to our absolute-beginner skill level and musical preferences. He has taught us how to play various songs, chords, scales, and techniques, and always has us looking forward to what's next! More than that, he has given me and my son a very enjoyable and unique way to bond. My gratitude for that goes beyond this simple review. I started guitar lessons with Fred about 3 months ago and the experience has been great! Prior to these lessons I’d dabbled with self-teaching but wanted some more structure and motivation to play. He’s really good at tailoring lessons to your music taste and I really liked how he used segments from songs I like to teach me various techniques (hammer ons, pull offs, slides, etc.). Would highly recommend!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first lesson is an important time to access a student's level of experience, communication style, and musical goals. From here it is all about learning the techniques and styles that match with the students goals! I personally believe that allowing students to pick the songs they'd like to learn allows them to see learning guitar as an activity they can have fun with, instead of "needing to practice" it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2014, where I received my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. My degree has helped me better understand how to best relay information to my students, and how to do so in a fun way! I have a unique understanding of the motivational road blocks that students encounter. I use this knowledge to put together unique lesson plans for all my students and help them succeed in an efficient time period.
