Introduction: As a National Board Certified Music Educator, teaching choir for nearly 30 years I have become very adept at helping singers of all abilities to learn to love singing (even more!) and to grown and improve based on their personal singing and performance goals. Because I have a strong background in several schools of vocal development (Bel Canto, Speech Level Singing, Wavebox Singing, the Joe Kline method, Alexander Technique and more, I am able to draw from each, and design instruction with whichever techniques are best suited for any given student/circumstance.
I am an active performer myself, including excelling in vocal competitions. I continue to seek vocal and performance coaching for myself so my ideas stay fresh and current. I have performed on America's Got Talent (Yes, my group was loved by all the judges!), and I've sung Bass, Baritone and Tenor in international singing competitions. My background includes Classical/Traditional, some opera, Musical Theater, contemporary a Cappella, Barbershop and pop styles. I have students representing all of those genres as well - and more!
My focus as a teacher is to help YOU Develop YOUR excellence in vocal production and presentation with healthy habits - in any style and ability level. Male and female, ages 12 through adult. I teach private voice, ensemble coaching, and vocal workshops for choral groups.
All lessons are professionally recorded and provided to students at no additional charge. In addition, my studio includes a vocal recording booth for recording demos or recordings for your personal project.
While the voice is a universal instrument with [essentially] common structures across all populations, every singer is unique. Helping singers to discover and release their natural awesome vocal talent through their unique personality, and to further use that skill and artistry to connect with others is what drives my teaching. My joy and passion comes from two things primarily. First, growth and improvement: Overcoming challenges and discovering new levels of excellence is a powerful driver! And, experiencing those wonderful musical moments such as connecting with an audience, a beautiful tone that sparkles with emotion or a rich, vibrant sound that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
