FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Since I have different lesson time lengths & other variables, it is best to call me for pricing. My apologies if this proves inconvenient.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A FREE 30 min drum lesson is offered to meet the student and discuss drumming goals and interests. This also give me a chance to meet the parent and discuss what they would like their child to receive from drum lessons. A drumming evaluation is also performed to show what category the student lies within (beginner / intermediate / advanced). I make it easy and simple to start drumming! Once on the master lesson schedule, the student and I really dig into both the fun and educational sides of drumming by using their drumming interests as a basis. Some teachers follow a strict, "one size fits all" approach however, I feel it's by far best to provide custom-made drum lessons for each individual student. All styles are available to learn and discover, as well as school band music and mallet percussion (xylophone, bells, etc.) It becomes very rewarding to see a student practicing a particular idea and ultimately working it out to a satisfying level. They feel a lot of pride in themselves (which becomes a big confidence booster) and I feel rewarded for providing them the direction to their understanding.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was taught by the head of the Percussion Dept. at Webster University for many years. We studied all styles including Rock, Jazz, Blues, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Concert and Symphonic Snare Drum pieces to name a few. I also enjoy master classes by professionals who are in town for a few days while on tour.
