- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I have all of my students complete an "About Me Questionnaire" so I can be more familiar with their musical background, experience, and their goals. Afterwards, depending on the age of the student, and the specific goals they want to achieve, we decide on what type of lesson they would like to have each week. The duration of the lesson will depend on age and experience level. For students between the ages of 6 and 12, a 30 minute lesson is sufficient. For students between the ages of 13 and 16, a 45 minute lesson is sufficient. For students 17 and older, a 30, 45, or 60 minute lesson is sufficient depending on your goals. 30 MINUTE LESSON First 10 minutes: warm-ups, vocal exercises, stretches Second 5 to 10 Minutes: Sight-reading, ear training, musicianship Remainder of Lesson: Repertoire (one song) 45 MINUTE LESSON First 10 minutes: warm-ups, vocal exercises, stretches Second 10 Minutes: Sight-reading, ear training, musicianship Remainder of Lesson: Repertoire (one to two songs) 60 MINUTE LESSON First 10 minutes: warm-ups, vocal exercises, stretches Second 10 Minutes: Sight-reading, ear training, musicianship Remainder of Lesson: Repertoire (two to three songs) These lessons are an easily customizable template. Your actual lessons will depend on your personal goals as a musician. For example, if you are about to enter high school and want to audition for their advanced choir, we would modify your lesson to ensure that you are avidly prepared for what is expected at the audition. For example, if sight-reading is a requirement, we would focus more time on that aspect instead of repertoire. If the audition was solely a vocal audition that required singing in other languages (with no musicianship test), then we would dedicate the majority of our time learning the correct diction and pronunciation of your repertoire.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Hello wonderful students! Here is a brief introduction about myself. I graduated with high honors from Rollins College in Florida with my Bachelor of Arts in Music and Education Certification K-12 in 2016. I completed my full time teaching internship at Jackson Heights Middle School under the direction of Mark Hardin. During my internship I assumed full teaching responsibilities for over 180 students teaching a variety of classes including: Music Appreciation, Beginning Chorus, Show Choir, Treble Chorus, and Mixed Chorus. I've also successfully completed internships at Markham Woods Middle and Winter Springs High. My other previous experience working with children includes being a certified Seminole County Substitute Teacher and Camp Counselor at Canyon Creek in Lake Hughes in California. Performing and musical theater play a huge role in my life. I have recently performed in J.B. Presents The Best of Broadway, Novato Theater Company's Chicago as Kitty, and Missouri Street Theatre's Beauty and the Beast as a Silly Girl. I have known that I wanted to teach music for the past 13 years and am so excited to be a part of your musical growth!
