FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
First lesson is free! Lesson rates: $65 for 60 minutes $55 for 45 minutes $45 for 30 minutes Travel fees will apply for in-home lessons.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always offer a free lesson, which will act simultaneously as an interview, both for me and for the prospective student. Because I often work with children, I find it crucial for the parents and for the child to feel comfortable with my teaching style. Before the lesson I email my policy to the parent/student, which may give them ideas for questions to ask during that free lesson. If we feel that it is a good fit, we schedule violin lessons.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing violin for 20 years and viola for 5. I have taken violin instructor Suzuki classes, as well as pedagogy classes from Northwestern University. I have regularly performer at Carnegie Hall with the New England Symphonic ensemble and I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Washington Adventist University. I am currently earning a PhD in Musicology at the University of Pittsburgh.
