Summary Vicente was recommended by our realtor to prep our home for sale. He made the process very smooth for us and was extremely polite and professional in his demeanor (I would be happy to have him working around my children). Specifically, Vicente was aware of code requirements and helped ensure we were making our home up to code, completed all jobs we asked him to do at a very competitive price and noticed several additional items that were important to fix, gave us alternatives when appropriate and did a thorough and visually appealing job on everything he touched. He said he looks at a home from both the seller's and buyer's perspective and strives to make the result great for both parties. This was aligned with our objectives and we were very pleased with the outcome. I recommend Vicente highly and look forward to working with him again. Specifics Advised us on needed fixes, purchased all materials and completed the work in a timely fashion. Augmented work another contractor had not done well - ensuring vanity was attached safely to wall in case of earthquake, strongly attaching towel rack that was sagging, choosing and installing attractive knobs on a cabinet, replacing cheap plastic shower head that had broken within a month with a sturdy one that will last. Did very nice tile work around fireplace. Repaired and replaced compromised drywall, interior painting, electrical work, sealing wooden floor, cleaning rain gutters, added locking mechanism to shed, many final touches to make our home sparkle.

Original project was just some electrical work. Ended up hiring Jason to do the whole project - new vanity and cabinets for the bathroom plus drawer/cabinet pulls, sink and faucet, new fan, all new switches, paint (he threw that in for free), hand towel bar, and of course the original job of moving two switches and an outlet. Finished project far exceeded my vision for my bathroom - definitely hiring again for the rest of my renovation projects, large and small. Thanks for a fantastic job!

Skip has been AMAZING!! He installed our new kitchen cabinets, backsplash, recessed lighting, and installed new plumbing and electrical. He installed our vinyl plank flooring, baseboards, and has helped with multiple projects in our home we just purchased. He is dependable, punctual, extremely hard working, more than competent, and one of the friendliest guys you will ever meet. I would highly recommend him to anyone for just about any project in your home!

Josh put new Cabinets in our kitchen. Super happy with the final product. The Installation process was pretty painless, and quick. Josh worked with us so we could use and have access our appliances (stove and refrigerator) at the end of each day. I know this created a bit more work on his end but our family of 6 appreciated it. His attention to detail was appreciated along with his willingness to take his time to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted.

Rick completely restored my condo. He is honest and hardworking and set a schedule of when the project was to start and finish. He was done ahead of this schedule. The outstanding quality of his craft (which covers just about everything in a home) is only surpassed by his reliability. When he says he will be there he is. The other thing I so appreciated about Rick's work was he never left a mess, everything was neat and clean in the process of the remodel. I tried to add photos, will do so when i figure it out. Rick put in french doors to open up light into living room that is just beautiful, along with all new flooring, kitchen cabinets, counters sink, all new doors thru out, opened wall in kitchen to let in light and the list is endless. Thank you Rick for my beautiful new home.

BHAT did an amazing paint job on my kitchen cabinets. Not only did they paint my kitchen cabinets, but they had ideas I had never even considered for the new island that went in and the base trim. Their ideas really "classy-ed" up my kitchen in a BIG way and I am so grateful for their expertise. In hindsight, I would now have had them do some of the other work I had done because their skills are incredible. THANK YOU for a job well done, and for working within the crazy schedule that didn't seem like it'd ever stop moving around! I sincerely appreciate the effort and the results are stunning!

I would recommend Steve and the Rocker company for all of your construction needs. Our new home is in a really nice neighborhood here in Anchorage, but the interior hadn't been updated much since the 70s. Steve helped me make design choices that rocketed our home into this millennia, century, decade, and year, but also without doing anything that will feel super dated in a few years. He went out of his way to help us stay within budget but get top quality materials where it mattered. We used them for a kitchen gut and remodel, creation of an additional laundry space, laying flooring, removal of a baseboard heater, new wall and the installation of a window and door. So our job tested their skills in pretty much every trade: electrical, plumbing, demo, new construction, insulation, windows/doors, drywall, texture, painting, flooring, lighting, etc. The only thing they didn't do was install our stone countertops. Steve and his crew were efficient, clean, polite, and SO SO good. If you're nervous about hiring someone off the internet, (I was!) you don't have to worry about it if you go with The Rocker Company. They are honest, skilled, hard workers. They don't cut ANY corners, but they do maximize efficiency so you aren't paying for "dead" time. They are clean and courteous, and I never felt at all uncomfortable with them in my home, whether I was there or not. Good help is hard to find in Anchorage. You can't go wrong if you hire Steve and the Rocker Company.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

      How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How much does it cost to have kitchen cabinets installed?

In any kitchen, the cabinets are the main focus, so you want to make sure new or replacement cabinets are installed correctly. A professional carpenter can properly, securely mount new cabinets to the wall; the national average cost for this service is $7,725, although the cost varies widely depending on the type of cabinets, their material and their size, and the accessories you add. A typical fee is $70 per linear foot to remove existing cabinets and assemble and install new ones; the cost is less if you do the demolition and removal yourself. Stock cabinets are the least expensive to have installed, ranging from $75 to $400 each; semi-custom cabinets range from $150 to $900 each; and custom cabinets cost from $500 to $1,400 each. Wood cabinets are more expensive than those made from plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and finished with a laminate. Wood cabinets range in cost from $80 to $160 per linear foot. Laminate-finished cabinets cost $35 to $75 per linear foot, on average.
