Introduction: Most often I can save my clients more money than I charge in design fees. My services are very tailored to the specific client's needs. I have over thirty years experience that is both broad and deep. I've been a furniture buyer for a fine furniture retailer and know the relationships between quality and value. I also have experience in new construction and remodeling. I have managed a staff of 20 designers. My resources are excellent and extensive to cover all aspects of design needs. Thank you! We have thoroughly enjoyed our relationship with John Harding Dey! With the formidable challenge of downsizing from a 3900 square foot home to a 1600 square foot home, John made that task a lot less daunting. He worked closely with us to determine our needs and desires for our new place, and importantly developed a budget goal for all of us right up front. He never insisted we get rid of all our belongings and start over; instead we worked together to keep the items we wanted while incorporating new, completely functional pieces into the new house. So, John has a wonderful way of making things work, ensuring everything is aesthetically appealing but practical, while (importantly) being conscientious of the budget. We would highly recommend John for your interior decorating needs.

My husband and I have worked with John since 1990, and he's helped us in 3 different houses. Besides being a hard-working and sincere person, John brings many good ideas to the table. I appreciate that he listens to what we want to accomplish and uses many resources to see that we achieve our goals. Prior to our first meeting with John, we spoke on the phone about our family room and our likes and dislikes. The first time he walked into our house, he brought fabric samples that we loved! He designed a beautiful TV cabinet for our family room and his cabinet maker did a wonderful job. Everyone's favorite thing about that room were the shelves that he put in the long hallway along the side and the interesting objects he found to mix with our "things". John also designed and had a curved sofa made for our cabin along with a mesquite table and 10 chairs. They make quite a statement in our great room. John helped us design an addition to our current house - family room, patio, outdoor kitchen, master closet, den and pool/spa area. While for family room is very comfortable, I think John recommended too much furniture for it, so we've removed some of the chairs and replaced one of the sofas. I highly recommend John and the resources he suggests. He will go above and beyond to make your project a great success.

When moving to Arizona I was in need of an experienced interior decorated to completely decorate my house that I had rented to five years. The decorated had to be someone with excellent communication skills and very trustworthy because I was still living in Georgia during the renovation. John completely renovated my house including new flooring, new wall treatments, granite countertops/faucets fireplace surround/mantel, lighting, and closet organization. Since completing that project, I had John completely renovate my master bathroom. In my absence, he supervised the unpacking and installation of my furniture including hanging pictures. He was able to do this because of he excellent communication skills. He was a keen listener, understood my design style, and kept me involved in all decisions. All of this occurred long distance! The work was excellent and was done on time. When I permanently moved to Arizona, I walked into my "home" vs. house and John had left a welcome basket and a candle. He truly made my formerly rented house into my home.

John Dey is a superior interior designer. He is knowledgeable about all aspects of home design and remodeling, and knows how to get the job done ! For me, he was a life saver, as I was moving from out of town to Phoenix and did not know how to navigate the remodel of my new home. John assisted me in all of the aspects of my renovation; kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, window treatments, furniture and so on. He has contacts with excellent vendors and contractors in the area and is up to date with the latest trends and materials. John worked along well with me, never imposing his ideas/taste but always was willing to find exactly what I wanted. He has a great ability to discern what is of good quality that conforms with the interior aesthetic. I am so pleased with the final results ! It was also very special that John stayed within my allotted budget which made the end results even more satisfactory. If you are looking to turn your home into a dream home OR even if you want to refresh and spruce up on a small scale, I highly recommend JOHN HARDING DEY, ASID INTERIORS.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Please see my website for more information on pricing and services. My fees are Client Centric so I often save my clients more money than what I have charged in design fees.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After an initial consultation, I will come back to clients with a design proposal. Upon acceptance of the proposal, I often provide a budget study and samples or pictures of furnishings and the space planning I've prepared. Upon acceptance of this stage I will present written proposals for all materials and services required to complete the design project. If contractors are involved I will make site visits to oversee and approve the work the contractors.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, definitely. I predated cad, so I learned cad. I study materials quite often, and manufacturing processes. Buy American! I have studied to assist clients that are Aging in Place, and ADA requirements.
