We had such a wonderful photo shoot with Randy. He is so professional and easy to work with. We did the shoot with my parents, in-laws and kids (age 3 and 9mos) and he really made everyone feel comfortable from baby to grandma. I’ve worked with other photographers but Randy was so nice to work with. His warm nature and patience really helped everyone feel comfortable and at ease so that he could capture the natural smiles. The candid pictures as well as the posed ones were equally amazing. He was open to our ideas for poses and made them happen! He had so many great ideas as well. Right from the beginning, Randy was easy to get a hold of, answered all of my questions and provided the highest quality of service. The turnaround time for getting the pictures back to us was extremely fast and his post edits were very artistic. Randy met and exceeded my expectations for a family photo shoot. We now have so many wonderful pictures of our family. I would highly recommend him for family portraits and I definitely plan to hire him again.

Matt filmed our wedding in March and did an amazing job. He is so fun to work with and made everything comfortable and easy. He was very flexible and laid back and he worked to accommodate all of my specific requests. He does a great job editing and pulling everything together and he gave us his full attention during the whole process. His videos are beautifully done and really are a steal with his prices. I would highly recommend using Matt as your wedding or event videographer!

I can not say enough great words about Lee Media. James provided my husband and I with a wedding film that was beyond perfect. It truly captured the entire day and our love story so perfectly. We especially loved the added on interview clips which we paid a bit extra for, but was worth every penny. James was very professional and the price for his videography services were very affordable for everything we wanted. I would highly recommend James to anyone seeking videographer services. - Marissa

Jonathan worked as a Cam Op for a few weeks in February with GameTime Footage and he was not only a terrific videographer, but also went above and beyond with helping in pre/post production. We also reached out to Jonathan to assist as an Event Director during his time spent with us. Working with Mr. Igram was a pleasure. He will be someone GameTime Footage will absolutely continue to contact in the future.

Bill was great! He was attentive to detail, and was able to help our company at the last minute when we had to get a new videographer to cover a softball event in Phoenix. The footage we got back to our offices looks great!

Myke was the project videographer and photographic consultant for our archaeological excavation in Peru. He traveled to the field with us for 2 weeks, and documented the excavation and lab analysis process, as well as the overall environment, physical, and cultural surroundings. Myke was an invaluable part of our team, and managed to hike to all of our sites, deal with the bugs and sand, and get amazing shots with 4 different cameras and sliders. He supplied our project with several video projects, including timelapses of the dig and community activities. He also produced a short 10 minute public outreach film for our project, which we will be subtitling in English and Spanish for distribution to local museums. Myke was completely professional, creative, and easy to work with during the entire process. He was a pleasure to work with in the field, and listened to what we wanted to bring our vision to life. I recommend Myke without reservations for your project or event.

I can't rave enough about how wonderful Anthony and Cultura Productions is to work with. From scouting the location in advance, to speaking directly to our officiant to make sure he was comfortable with the mic, Anthony made the documentation of our wedding day a breeze. After months of planning a wedding and the many stressful decisions we had to make, knowing that we had an organized, communicative, and talented videographer in place gave us the opportunity to sort out other challenges and ultimately, focus on enjoying our wedding day. Throughout the day and night, I never had any doubt in my mind that Anthony missed something. Each moment that was so important to us that day, planned and unplanned, Anthony was there to capture. He was always two steps ahead of where to be and what to capture. I also had multiple guests comment that they didn't event notice that he was there. The way he films and moves while filming made it easy for him to capture each and every special moment, without getting in the way or blocking any views or guests. Leading up to our wedding day, Anthony was very easy to collaborate with and he was very open to listening and understanding what we were looking for. This was a challenge we had dealing with other vendors, but with Anthony, this was never a concern. When it came to delivering the final product, Anthony was timely in his editing and when watching the video I felt like I was able to relive all of the wonderful memories and emotions of the day. The final video did more than show the main events of the night, it told the story of the day, and our love for one another. After watching, there wasn't a single thing that we would change about the video. The varied shots, the audio quality, the music he selected, it was all perfect. If you are looking for a videographer, I would highly suggest working with Cultura Productions. His work is worth every penny and I am forever thankful for the keepsake he has created for my family.

We had a great experience working with AZ LG Films. For this shoot we worked with Lemar and were very happy with entire process. The challenge for us was that we could not be on location and had to trust the videographer to get what we needed in an area we didn't know a lot about. Lemar was very engaged and responsive leading up to and after the shoot, which put us at ease. He gathered all the shots me needed and additional ones as well. Also, if you are looking for aerial footage, he does a fantastic job and we were very happy with what he filmed for us. We look forward to reaching out to him with more projects and hope he'll be available to work with us again.

I had the privilege to work with Jeffrey filming a wedding this past month. What sets Jeffrey apart from other videographers I've worked with is his love for film technique, and his overall client-focused care. To him it's all about producing a style that is both professional, and unique to him. When you see it, you know it's his work. As a fellow professional, he made me want to write this review so people know how awesome this guy is. I'm telling you, Jeffrey comes highly recommended by me, and he will prove it to you the first time he meets you.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
