Alex and his crew pulled up some old pavers and gravel, leveled out the area and supplied and installed a new style of paver. It took us longer to pick a colour that it did for Alex to complete the job!! They were there 12 hours after we accepted the quote and were completed before noon the next day. Can't say enough good things about them!!!

The crew was timely and respectful of neighbors. They did excellent work on he concrete driveway and curbing. I did have a personal shovel taken from my property and I notified the contractor, it has not turned up on my site yet.

Jorge of JM Landscaping did fabulous work on our older home yard updates. Firstly, adding a new front wall - work was quick and beautifully done. Then putting in artificial turf, trimming out new trees with keystone, and matching our existing brick to add trims for our soon to be planters (once it's not 100' in the shade!) He continued the work into our added back yard space, with more turf, new paver patio and new flower beds brick trim. Loved working with Jorge and his crew, all polite, quiet (which our neighbors appreciated) and professional. He had no problem when I added on extra items to the project to make the finished product exactly what I wanted! Thank you Jorge for our beautiful new yard!

We got pavers and turf done with Landscape Doctors, it looks fabulous. There is some disconnect with the office and their workers sometimes and you need to double check things or make sure everyone is on the same page. But outside of that, I have no complaints. We have more projects to be done and I plan to use them for the rest of our yard projects.

Luke and his team did a great job with the demo of my sidewalk and driveway, and pouring a lovely new sidewalk and driveway. Even when we ran into challenges, they always came with a reasonable solution. Luke was also very communicative, which I really appreciated.

June 13, 2018 Ground Zero Landscaping LLC review. The owner Chad Bennett was pleasant and easy to talk to. I did not have a specific design or specifications for the company to use for my brick paver walkway and a 3-foot-wide border around the back of my 57-year-old house. So, Chad helped with some of the decision making regarding the pattern and how to resolve grade variations. The paver masons were precise with the difficult fits and quick to set grades and set the pavers. I asked for some changes to the original scope of work to include a drip system valve replacement which was accomplished by another employee other than the two masons. There were some miscommunications related to some fill dirt that was needed to fill a low area adjacent to the masonry. Initially some gravel mix (ABC) and caliche was brought in for the fill material which I rejected as unacceptable but Chad quickly found a source of “turf soil” and removed and replaced the ABC and caliche with the “turf soil” which I found acceptable. Overall: My wife and I were very pleased with the paver results; it improved the appearance of the house and will reduce the yearly maintenance. I highly recommend Ground Zero Landscaping with one caveat: it you do not have a formal design or specifications, as I did not, you will need to follow up as the work progresses with feedback to Chad and his workers to ensure you get what you have envisioned.

We enjoyed working with Manny, he did a full drive-through driveway as well as a large stamped pool area that we stained. He also did a separate pad for a large storage shed that we did. Manny does quality work for a reasonable price and he shows up every morning and make sure that the job gets done on time and correct. I would recommend him to anybody in need of any type of concrete work and I'm sure I'll be contacting him again in the future.

I hired Victor to pour a concrete driveway for me. He did an excellent job, and was able to do the job sooner than he had originally planned on, which I was very happy about. I am very happy with the finished product, and found his price reasonable. I would hire him again.

They extended my patio and a driveway on the side of my garage at a good price and really looks good. Done in two days. First day they came out and did the prep work and the 2nd day poured the concrete.

I had 2 slabs of driveway that had settled and sunk. Arthur did an amazing job. The builder did not compact the soil properly and the driveway was as much as 14 inches thick in places. Arthur rented extra large equipment at his expense in order to complete the job. He also pinned the slabs to the existing garage and surrounding slabs so the driveway is now completely stable. He surpassed all my expectations. Service was outstanding and unheard of in today's times. I highly recommend him.

Price and quality plus life warranty

Our craftsman ONLY do pavers. They are not planting plants one day, installing sprinklers the next. They do paver 10 to 12 hours a day 5 or 6 days a week. They do excellent work and they do it quickly.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
    • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
    • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
    • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
    • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
    • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

    What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time.
