People ask me all the time why would I want to be a handyman when I have several college degrees and have worked in the corporate world for 20 years. Well, it all started many years ago in a small western Kansas town when my family bought a glass and paint store. A company they operated for 46 years while they built it into one of the most recognized local businesses for all types of quality glass work as well as storm doors and windows.
I guess you could say the entrepreneurial spirit was engrained in me from an early age. I worked in the family business on and off for over 25 years beginning at the age of ten and then summers until I graduated high school and even during my college years. That work and those lessons taught me the value of hard work as well as some great handyman skills. I always knew that someday I would revisit those skills.
Then a few years ago I was laid off by a major local employer and more recently the family business was sold after my father’s passing. Ever since I have struggled to find my way but after a series of failed job searches and a little soul searching I knew the time had come. It was time to get back to those lessons my father had taught me so many years ago. It is my hope that I can build a thriving local business that is as well recognized. Wish me luck!
