I needed a last minute paint job as my contractor dropped the ball. Albert was able to get started quickly, brought in a full crew and everyone on his team showed care and dedication. As there is always with paint jobs, touchups were needed, including several that were the result of a carpet installation and new lockset install. Albert had his guys come out and they spent several hours going thru the home making sure that everything was perfect. You will be happy hiring Albert and The Best Painters!

I found Ben after I had a beehive removed from a retaining wall. All I needed was 2 cinder blocks and 3 cap blocks replaced with new blocks, and the hollows and gaps filled with mortar. He arrived on time and was very professional. He did a good job, I am happy with the work, and I he was reasonably priced. He did say that most of the work he does is painting jobs. I'm considering having him re-prime and then paint the entire retaining wall, if I don't stucco the wall instead. He did a pretty job cleaning up, and the wall is in good-as-new condition.

We were extremely pleased with the drywall repair, installation, and painting David did in our garage. He was prompt, reasonable, and very friendly. We have his contact number saved, as we would use his services again in a heartbeat. We strongly recommend David!

I have a 2000 SQ house that was in a desperate need of paint. Nick was professional and got the job done and got it done right. I have seen a lot of paint jobs on houses that the color is weird or the way the painting was done but this was a great job. He worked well with the other contractors that were working on my house and they said that they liked working with him also. For any other painting job that I have I will ask Nick to do the work and I will be recommending him to anyone that needs painting work done.

Richard and his partner did some drywall repair for me, and he also adjusted my front gate. To make the job mutually beneficial, he gave me the option of painting the drywall repairs myself. At my request, he left the plastic sheets from the drywall repair to make the painting easier. I wish I had found him earlier since all these repairs were fixes of work performed 6 months ago. I'd hire him again!

5 Stars does not give this contractor justice. Jose and his crew showed up on time. They were clean, respectful, courteous and hard working. Their attention to detail was great. They worked as a team and got the job done in 2 days. I would not hesitate to hire Jose again. After dealing with multiple types of contractors in my house, I wish Jose and his crew would be able to do my whole remodel! Thanks again Jose. You are appreciated.

Eddie and his crew did a wonderful job painting my great room (kitchen and family room) and hallway. They were prompt and ready to work, and when they did, they worked fast and efficiently. They listened to what I wanted and provided guidance when asked. They did an expert job moving the furniture and taking down the blinds to do the work. They used the sprayer to get the painting done quickly like I needed. The painting cost was very reasonable. We took the option in which he provided the paint. The paint color was exactly what we chose. The finished product was terrific--we are very pleased! I highly recommend this painting contractor.

Altech painting and epoxy was awesome. I hired them to paint my clients 4800 square foot custom house in DC Ranch and they were professional, on time, did the job right the first time, no call backs and no missed spots. I only use Andy for any painting jobs I have for my other clients. Thanks again man!

Nick was prompt to address my post on Thumbtack. He took the initiative to give me a call and try to earn my business. His quote to paint my two car garage was mid-range among the various quotes I received. He arrived on time (early in fact) and got right to work. Overall, he and his crew did a good enough job and they cleaned up afterwards (and even helped move my shelves in and out of the garage). I do wish a little more care was given to patching holes in the drywall and ensuring even paint coverage. Some of the drywall patches looked a little rushed and there were a few areas that could've used a thicker application of paint. I had to do painting touch ups myself to smooth a few things out. All in all, the garage looks better than it did before, so thank you!

We hired G&N to paint the entire interior of our brand new two story house. They showed up on time and provided a competitive estimate. We had other contractors either not show up or show up look around and never sebd an estimate which I thought was very unprofessional and a waste of our time. We like the ratings of G&N and decided to hire them. They did a great job and finished earlier then promissed. They exceeded our expectations and Not a single issue or touch up that was required. Highly recommend this contractor!

Super nice and hard working guy. Very respectful to his customers and conscientious of the quality of his work. He focused on the small details that many contractors overlook. His pricing is very reasonable especially when you consider the quality. I would not hesitate to recommend him to family and friends.

Venus Homes recently remodeled two of my bathrooms, added an additional full bath, replaced all my plumbing, added a hallway, and tiled my entire house...in less than a month. Narsay was professional, punctual, and was precise in his project coordination. He was able to get a tile guy, electrician, plumber, and drywall guy all to work in perfect order to get the job done cleanly and quickly. The crew was respectful of my house and honest. I had to give them full access to my house while I was at work and nothing ever went missing or was used without my permission. (They never even touched something as small as the thermostat). The entire job was done quickly and well. The tile guy was amazing. His lines and cuts are as good as I've seen. Narsay was communicative and proactive in identifying the best way to make the changes I wanted. I had 3 bids for this project and Narsay was the most positive and enthusiastic of the three. He was genuinely excited and confident about this project. He followed through and made good on his word. There were no surprises or additional costs. Narsay did what he quoted and was reasonable and fair. Multiple friends have requested Narsay's number now that they have seen his work. I highly recommend Venus Homes for your project. I will add photos when I'm done putting in the right furniture and painting the walls. Rob

Adam Smith of Orange Dragon Designs, recently transformed my kitchen with a counter top cement finish and refinished my cabinets in a coordinating color. I found Adam to be professional, friendly, creative, and answers calls/texts in a very timely fashion. I have also seen other jobs he has completed, all of which turned out beautifully. A contractor friend of mine felt Adam did an impressive job on my kitchen. I would highly recommend him. Dee M.

Tom and Joel have been a pleasure to work with. They were punctual, professional and they gave me and my wife the kitchen of our dreams. From the quick preparation of a quote for us to evaluate, their open communication during the constuction process, to the end result, Tom and Joel went above and beyond every expectation. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality contractor.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
