Leela is great to work with. She has stared teaching me salsa and takes the time needed to explain things. I am a beginner and have never had a dance lesson ever. She is taking the time to explain things to me in terms I understand. She is great with Encouraging, motivating and building confidence in others. Even Daniele has stepped in to give advice and demonstration. If your thinking about stepping out and trying something new and want to learn to dance I highly recommend both Leela and Daniele. These two know their stuff 👍👍
Mark's Salsa lessons were so much fun, and great workouts. He is very knowledgeable, and very passionate about dancing. My dancing improved tremendously. I cannot wait until I come back!
Mariana is a wonderful teacher and really helped my boyfriend and I learn the basics of swing, salsa, and cha cha. I knew how to dance, and she helped me be a better dancer as well. So much fun, I highly recommending Arizona Sun Dance Studio! We will be taking more lessons for sure!
Mike was my Zumba AND salsa teacher for three years. He was the most motivating instructor I ever had. He always encouraged me and pushed me to go further and learn more and be better and believe in myself to the extend that I myself am a Zumba instructor now! He is not only a motivating instructor, he knows how to explain well and is always fun to be with. We now live in different countries and I miss him terribly, as an instructor who was in some ways even my "life coach" and who also became a friend !
Nick, Laura and crew are very skilled in their craft. Their facility is very nice and offers ample space for group and individual dance lessons. I'm a beginner and in just 40 minutes, left feeling accomplished. Thank you! Henry
I took Zohar's classes for six years and stopped only when I moved out of Phoenix. I'd already performed professionally a bit (I'd danced for 6 years before) when I walked into her class for the first time and owe her a great deal. Having made up missed my usual intermediate/advanced classes by attending the beginner group, I've seen how Zohar is able to adapt her instruction so that dancers of different levels can get a lot out of class. With beginners she teaches technique patiently and thoroughly, and as you advance she begins to transition you into really putting the dance together. I've learned a ton of performance skills from her, though she does not pressure you to perform if it doesn't interest you. She basically gives her intermediate/advanced students a challenge and helps each student work through it, then gives feedback. With a lot of other group classes -- and I've been to a lot -- you get technique but never put it all together beyond a class choreography, but with Zohar you become comfortable with improvisation as you build on your technique. She also encourages you to develop your own style. It is also worth noting that Zohar has special training to work with women who are pregnant. I danced with her all the way through my pregnancy. I learned a LOT of different abdominal movements as we tried to persuade my breech baby to turn. (My daughter inconsiderately refused, but at least Zohar came to visit me in the hospital after my c-section!) I loved being able to (safely) do this gentle exercise, and I think it helped me stay energized and fit at work even as the third trimester dragged on. One thing I miss especially, though, are my classmates. The women who studied with me are amazing. There was always a feeling of sisterhood. Because my primary social circle outside of class was mostly math and engineering grad students, I didn't have a whole lot of female friends. I love these ladies! We all bring different prior dance experience and style to class and I feel like I've learned a lot from them, too. I've had 10 teachers in 4 states and have never taken classes that were so responsive to my needs and goals as a dancer. There is a definite void in my Wednesday nights since I moved away.
Working with Elie has been a complete delight! I was hesitant about getting Salsa lessons but she made it easy, comfortable and I learned a lot. She is very professional, fun and explains steps in an easy format you can follow. Koodos to her for her talents and skills!
Steve teaches a mix of LA style and Cuban style salsa. Most instructors in Phoenix will focus on one style of salsa (typically ballroom style LA on the "1") to th exclusion of all other styles. It wasn't until I met Steve that I realized that there were MANY different styles of salsa (like Cuban, Puerto Rican, and on the "1" and "2"). In his classes, you will learn how to lead, how to follow, and how to adjust your dance style to whomever you may find yourself dancing with. Its the difference between being stuck in one 'clique' of salsa and being able to dance with anyone you may happen to meet. Also, few other instructors do a decent job teaching latin motion - you'll dance much better once you add the Cuban into your dance style!
