Matt is by far the best personal trainer that I have ever had. I have had trainers in the past that do not listen to your wants and needs and put you on a diet plan that is not realistic, or a cardio plan that is not cohesive to your goals. That is NOT the case with Matt. He listens to what I want to accomplish and continuously makes adjustments as needed. When I change my goals, he changes his plan of attack. He is incredibly knowledgeable in all areas of fitness and nutrition. His schedule is always flexible and he has went out of his way to schedule insanely early sessions with me so my work schedule is possible. In the past year that I have trained with Matt, I haven't just received a trainer, I have received a coach and a friend. He constantly cheers me on when I sign up for a obstacle course race, a run, or a competition. His workout sessions always contain new content so I do not become bored. I can not express adequately on how much Matt helps his clients.

I learned about Just Ask Meghan from a friend. They helped her organize their home and I was looking for a life coach. Cindy was my coach and she was a great listener. She knew when to just listen and when to challenge me. Even when I didn't have a session, she would send me emails to encourage me. She was a great coach and know I still can call her anytime.

I went into Raymond at Inner Power Hypnotherapy out of pure desperation and in a last ditch effort because everything else had failed. I was in an unhealthy marriage, I had gained ALOT of weight, had developed low self esteem, suffered sever pain from fibromyalgia and had lost myself and who I was because of all these thing. I went to the first visit just wanting to lose some weight to look better for my husband and not hurt so much. Well let me tell you I may have went thinking I knew what I wanted but I left with what I needed. I left feeling so empowered!. (He even helped me address and let go of some issued I had been carrying around since I was little that had been effecting me my whole life) I have taken control of my life back and am starting to find me again. 6 months ago I could not even walk 400 steps a day the pain was so severe from the fibromyalgia and today I am pain free. Before seeing Ray if you had asked me what I like to do I would have just stared at you and said "I don't know" because I had lost me and I really didn't know. Today I can name you half a dozen thing I have discovered I love to do. Ray is not just a wonderful hypnotherapist you can trust but a great therapist, confidant, life coach and mentor. I highly recommend Ray at Inner Power Hypnotherapy for what ever your needs are.

I worked with Katie for 1.5 months and in that time she made a great workout plan that catered to my workout goals in spite of the time restriction. In that short span of time my endurance improved and my inches decreased. She taught me how making healthy lifestyle choices can be easy. In fact, she came with me to a supermarket for grocery shopping. I had a wonderful experience with her as my trainer and I am so glad that I got a chance to work with her.

The best trainer in Scottsdale, period. Dolores is an extraordinary trainer and fitness coach. I highly recommend the STARTUP program. Not only do you get a feel for Dolores' expertise and capabilities, she provides a comprehensive assessment of your physical strength, cardio-fitness, and flexibility. The assessment also serves as a benchmark to measure your results from Day 1. I saw quick gains in my strength, stamina, flexibility and more importantly, I lost fat in my mid-section. Plus, she really knows her nutrition and she's so nice! Tough, but nice.

Best trainer I've ever worked with! Lindsey really provides a complete program. She's helped me adjust my diet and adopt a healthier lifestyle. I've never looked or felt better. She's really supportive and helped me change my overall lifestyle - not just go on a diet. I like the gym where she trains also. It looks intimidating but once you get in everyone is very friendly and it offers a lot of diversity for the workouts. I've also met a lot of cool girls that train with Lindsey and I really enjoy the camaraderie. Can't thank her enough for the support and great results!

I have had chronic upper back and neck tension from a hectic lifestyle and demanding work schedule. I also have imbalances in muscle tone in my back and core area due to collegiate level sport participation and several pregnancies. I thought that my pain was here to stay, especially after several visits to other therapy places and chiropractors. After using Primal Function Therapy, I have seen positive results both in pain reduction and overall health awareness. The most amazing part, I didn't feel "beat up" after the session! Simple tips and pointers that Jon discussed with me have helped me re-evaluate my posture while working at my computer all day and while exercising. Thankfully, after just one massage therapy session, Jon was able to relieve the stress and tension in my upper back and give me corrective exercises to work on at home to help reduce future flare ups. Regular follow up visits have helped eliminate reoccurrences and improved my overall lifestyle. Jon is committed to the overall health of his clients by giving them the tools and resources needed to live a healthy lifestyle. I can't wait to try out some of the other services provided

Teri Undreiner was recommended to me for massage by three personal friends who went to her regularly. So, since starting with her many years ago, I continue to go to her on a regular basis. Sometimes I still see one or the other of my friends who still continue to come to Teri and our appointments are right before or after each other. She gives a great massage so just recently I started her beginning yoga class. She is amazing. I recommend her to everyone I can. I am 75 but getting a good deep massage from Teri has helped me keep going. Yoga has been rewarding in helping with some current back pain.

Liz is truly the best! I’ve been working with her for about 3 months now and am very happy with my results so far. I’ve lost weight, built muscle and have healthier eating habits all because of her! I love that training and nutrition coaching are both included in her package and she is very knowledgeable in both areas! Liz is the third trainer I’ve worked with and is by far the best! If you’re thinking about working with a trainer, choose Liz, you won’t be sorry!

The best investment you will make for your health in your life is working with Rivak Hoffman. Rivak trained my wife for over a year with the most awesome results before I took advantage of his expertise in physical therapy. Having had surgery on my heel, he took over my rehab after terrible results from other PT’s. His knowledge of both physical training, the body, and therapy has helped me tremendously. Rivak takes your individual situation and creates a personalized program for both body and diet, always working with you as your situation changes. Never late and always gives 100%. Not only am I healing, I have lost weight and have never felt better. Again, the best money you will spend is working with Coach Hoffman.

I attribute much of the success I have experienced in my lifestyle change and weight loss journey to Alice. To begin with Alice was very upfront and clear about what I could expect with the Optivia program. She was very knowledgeable about everything that was available to me. She has responded quickly to all of my questions or concerns. What I have appreciated most is that she has been more motivational than demanding of me, and has been more concerned about my successes than any benefit she might have personally received.

I had my (first ever) life coaching session with Nicole. I was not too sure what that even meant when I signed up, but knew that I wanted someone in the world to talk to and guide me. From the moment our call began I instantly felt comfortable with her. Even though we were not face to face, she was so very present. She guided me through the process of being coached, and really made me think and talk about many aspects of my life. Her questions were well thought out, and so appropriately put each and every time. She also sent me notes and steps for moving forward, which will be so helpful to have in print for the future.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
